Need some tire spacers? :( Good online source?

Hi,

I recently bought some 15.x8 centerline champ 500 style rims, and took them to my local tire shop.  Well, I though these guys knew what they were doing when they recommended 275 60's on the back, and 235 70's on the front.  When trying to put the fronts on, they said the space is very close and I need a 1/4" spacer.  But they said, your backs are fine let's put them on while you find spacers.  So we put them on, I drive 2 miles home and smell buring rubber... and no, not from my lead foot!  The back tires are totally rubbing my leaf springs, and I can't believe they didn't check this and find it.  I can't believe I didn't look under there myself either!  I have cosmetic damage already, and hopefully it's limited just to that.  But I need spacers there too, and I don't think a 1/4" will cut it.  My tape measure and eyeball say I probably need 1/2" on the back.

Long story short... where's a good source for spacers?  Also, any comments on my predicament?  I honestly thought I was going safe by stopping at 15x8 275 60's and am very annoyed to find myself in this predicatable predicament.

One final question... are charger's 5 on 4.5 lug spacing?  How is that measured... a 4.5" diameter circle?  Or lug to lug?

Thank you for patience with my newbie questions...

Lug spacing is the diameter of the bolt circle, not the center-to-center of the studs.

If you run 1/2" thick spacers you'll need longer lug studs. I would recommend machined billet spacers rather than the die cast spacers that cost less.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks, John.  Would you have a recommendation for a stud source by chance?  I went up and talked to O'Reilly's and they could only find the existing stud in their computer.  Though they did say if I brought one in, they could probably find one in their stock that would work.  I'll go that way if I can't find another source, I guess.

Thanks!

Mopar Performance carries long studs for both the front and rear. I purchased mine at the dealer. I agree with John...go with the solid billet spacers....i did.  :2thumbs:

Thanks, Ron!  I'm on my way to check out the long studs at mopar performance.  Question... do you think I can keep the original studs on front with the 1/4" spacer?  I'm frugal, and like to save a buck where I can.

Love this forum.

Anothere quick question... is Mopar Performance... www.moparperformance.com?  I found the website kind of hard to use, and it appears to be a network of chrysler/jeep/dodge dealers and service centers?  If so, should I just head down to my local Dodge dealer?  That's what came up when I searched the site with my zip code.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Ron.  Looks like I have drum brakes on the back, so I guess the Mopar drum brake kit for 42.95 is the one I need.  Does that sound right to you guys?  I'm just slightly paranoid at buying the wrong thing.

Thanks again!  Looks like I'm on my way to a good solution.
