How much can you in general get out of parting Chargers?, like any year. :scratchchin:

Or would be better to try and sell the whole heap?

Thanks for the help guys.

It's a giant pain in the ass.

You need a huge space to take the cars apart.

You need another huge space to store the cars/parts.

You need neighbors with a sense of humor.

You'll have 15 idiots all calling for the same part off the car, you know-the one you had to torch off to get it to roll onto the trailer.

30 more idiots will want to come over and look at the car, waste your time, and drink all of your beer, piss in your yard, fail to buy anything, and they'll back their rusted out piece of shit Silverado over your new mailbox as they back out of your driveway piss-drunk.

If you advertise parts for sale on-line you'll get 100's of idiots bashing you for parting the car out instead of "Saving" it.

I had death threats sent to me a few years ago because I was parting out a rusted to death '73 Road Runner  ::)  This clown told me: "How dare you destroy this piece of American history" " You should just GIVE it to some body that will restore it"  When I told him to just come over and buy the car and "save" it himself, his reply was "If I come over there and you don't GIVE me the car", "I'll kill you - you car murderer"

On the same car I had a kid calling me every day for months asking me questions like:

"Are you sure it won't run"?

Yes, kid. I'm sure. There's no driveshaft, the rear end is out of something else -a Ford I think- and the tranny is in the trunk.

"If I bring tools and work on it-will it make the drive 600 miles one-way to Detroit"?

Well, maybe-if you're a F%^*ing magician.

"My dad says "If there's a junkyard by your house, and we can work on it at your place for a few days-he'll buy it for me."

Sure kid, The nearest junkyard is 30 miles away. There hasn't been a Road Runner in that place since there was a peanut farmer in the White House, but I'd love to have you and your dad come live with me for a few weeks while you perform a miraculous resurrection on this piece of shit. Bring the whole family while you're at it.

"If I send you the cash, will you deliver it to my house in Detroit?"

Go away kid. Stop calling me. Click.

Really. Stop calling me. Click.

I mean it. Stop calling me. Click.

Hello? Shit! Click.

It's funny now-but at the time- well-not so much.

If I buy a car for parts now, I just remove the parts I'm interested in and call this guy I know that spends a lot of time parting cars out. If I don't take too much stuff off he'll usually come and get it and give me what I paid for it.

So free parts for me, no death threats, no idiots at my house, and I'm not putting up a new mailbox the next morning :eek2:

I just finished parting out this:

YES, I still have parts from this car for sale.
YES, it was a bit of a pain.
YES, my neighbors thought I was crazy.
YES, I dealt with false promises from customers who wanted to buy stuff. Of course, this was AFTER parts were cut/trimmed to their liking.
YES, I heard from irate people who were screaming not to cut up this rusted out hulk.

Would I do it again?

YES!!!!  :yesnod:
