Can anyone here steer me in the right direction?? Just found out, today, that the alternator in my '69 Charger (472 Hemi) isn't producing enough power, and I'd like to upgrade to the 1-wire.

Thanks

I put a Jegs  (delco-remy)Chrome 100 amp single wire alternator on my 73. Used # 8 wire to the starter relay. You will need to do some wiring Changes. Do not run 100 and amps thru an old ampmeter. I put fusible link on the red # 8 wire from alt. to starter relay and run thru convoluted tubing. .    I use   voltmeter in place of ammeter.

Minor bracket changes ,mostly spacers and longer bolts.

Works great. I run dual electricfans ,Halogen light and electric fuel pump. Still charges at idle. Voltage 14.4

Alt. $104
Wire,etc. $20
New fan belt $15

Chevy guys give me a hard time when the hoods open. But its rare they get to see the front of the car,

Cool. I ordered one from Summit tonight, made by March. Supposedly a "direct bolt in replacement", but I will rewire like you suggested.

There are some posts you might want look for on how to wire your car to avoid large current flow thru the ammeter witch was designed for a 50 amp system. I just took the black # 10 wire that was the origanal alt charging wire shortened it to about a 18 in. from the firewall connector and hooked it to the starter relay on the same post a the new # 8 alt.wire. This keeps the current thru the ammeter low. Ammeter ether does not move now or shows slight discharge.

You will like how much brighter the lights are ,especially at a traffic light. You clean up the engine compartment wiring as well. No field wires or regulator anymore.
