Time to do a resto

So I'm thinking its time to attempt a full resto.

For those that don't know I own a 71 Charger SE with a 440.

The body is solid i painted in 6-7 years ago (but its showing its age) so I know whats underneath, the engine was done at the same time. I've done all the seats and most of the interior. If I didn't botch my carpet installation (its hard to install it around a roll cagebut) it would look great inside! It does have a host of problems such as wiring and suspension etc. The car is drivable but I am tired of fixing something after I pull it out of storage every year. I know its never "DONE" persay but I feel  (correct me if I'm wrong ) that until you do a full resto in a systematic order you'll never get ahead.

I've ripped down that room in the garage to make room for the car to fit. I figured I'm looking at a minimum a year for tear down and maybe 2+ depending on money and time  for rebuilding.


Anyone got tips before I commit to this? Good reading materials or anything?

Is it an original 440, auto or 4spd ? And I don't remember seeing any pics

1. Using relative timescales, If it takes a year to do a tear down, it will take you 25 to restore it.
2. Don't start it unless you are committed to finishing it.

inspect it and buy everything you think it needs before. do it all at once. not in stages.

get alot of the plastic totes and label them during storage.
