Hello! Just got my guage cluster together tonight, tested everything and ran into ONE problem  :brickwall:

On my 3 speed wiper motor, when I shut the motor off it goes well below the resting position and SMACKS the bottom of the trim before going UP and parking. I have to set the blades VERY high on the windshield to prevent this. Right now the blades are about 30deg off the bottom and well in my visible sight. When I turn on the switch the wipers work great. When I turn them off, the go BELOW the 30deg mark, hit the trim, then come back up to rest.

The dash is basically assembled so this totally sucks. Thoughts?

Have you tried to take the wiper arms off and then turn the wiper motor on and then off.  Then with it off and in the park position, reinstall the wiper arms.  I had do that to our chally as some dip stick put them on in the wrong location and caused them to bind when they went down causing the motor to burn out.

And if that doesn't fix it, the park position on the 3 speed motor can be changed.  You remove the three screws holding the parking swith lid down and lift it gently and move it to one of the other indexing slots.  The shop manual had a diagram of this and discusses the procedure.  But I would definitely move the wiper arms first as suggested.

Well, I solved the problem and rarely is the solution posted so I thought I would share.

It was a combination of factors. The first was that the linkage arm right off the wiper motor (the little L shaped bracket) was clocked the wrong way. The service manual makes it appear that the bracket should be pointed UPWARD (towards the cowl) but in actuality it should be pointed downward (about the 8 o'clock) position at rest.

Secondly was all the havoc that was causing not letting the motor cycle. I had to remove the linkages, let the motor cycle and come to rest a few times, then re-attach the linkage.

THIRDLY - my blades are too long. I have 16in blades and I think I need 15in blades. That extra 1/2in on the downward side

Anyway - problem solved thanks to the great members of hte forum!

I got new wiper blades identical to my originals from O'reillys.  They had to order them in but it only took one day.  This is on a 69.
