I would like to clear coat my engine. Do I need to use a high heat paint or does the normal operating temp allow for typical automotive clear coat paint? Thanks

They make Hi-Temp Clear Coats...  Never tried them myself, but they are available  :shruggy:

You can buy it in spray cans at the auto supply store like Auto Zone.   I use it on every engine I paint.   It gives a nice gloss finish, and makes the engine easier to clean, if you get a minor oil leak.

I used normal PPG clear when I painted my motor 3 years ago. Still looks new.

At the school here in Mac we use all PPG paints and we just use a standard base clear to paint with.
