If you had this car, what would you do with it?

I am the absolute wrong guy to ask this question.  I LOVE wagons!

It took me 15 years to find a Pontiac Bonneville Safari, a 1961, now rare as can be.  303 hp 389 engine, essentially the GTO engine.  These wagons could be optioned with buckets, four speeds and three two barrel carbs.

It was the same model my parents had when I was a kid, so its a nostalgia things to.  But how many times have we seen old pics of race cars or trailers towed by a Mopar or other wagon?  Wagons are great, the rest of the world is catching up to what a few folks have known for a while.

Mine is a 389 auto, factory air conditioning!  And for a super heavy wagon, it actually gets up and goes ok!

Now for the Mopar, I agree with some of the things Daytona suggested, but I would go with the Mopar wheels and NOT screw with the hood.  Redo the interior stock, everything stock.  I have no problem with maybe throwing some in a light cam, intake, headers and exhaust, things that could always be unbolted.  Fresh, stock color paint.

Then drive drive drive.  We need to save every wagon we can find that has not been crushed, good ones are hard to find.
Do I have the last, operational Popcar Spacemobile?

bull

I like the old wagons too but I don't think I could justify the time and expense to restore one that far gone. That said, if I did have the extra money and time I would totally customize the interior and modernize everything I could, I'd probably install a new crate Hemi or build up a 340 for it and then I'd paint it a very non-subtle color.

I'd customize it, go nuts, It's got some great lines.....

Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical,
      a liberal, oh fanatical, criminal.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're
acceptable, respectable, oh presentable, a vegetable!

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

In the owners garage, back in around 2001. The wagon was about 90% done when I took the pictures of it.
