i have a stock aluminum sixpack intake. its a 69 year. i bought it with the center oles milled out. also have a 69 center carb, and the out board carbs are 70's. what kind of problems can i expect? have you guys had any dealings with this kind of set up? it is going on a brand new rebuilt 71 440 hp, 4 speed. has a brand new stock hp cam from mopar performance. have not got the block back from the machine shop yet, so its not together.

those center holes in the intake, have they been opened up or have they been cut out completely?

i used to run a 6 pack on my 440 and it was basically one large holley carb. once you set the power valve up in the center carb for the cam you are using that part will be taken care of. you might have to buy an assorta spring kit for the outside carb pods so that you can get them to open correctly.

i would probablly leave everthing alone since you are running the stock hp cam and see how the set up works. then i would make the changes that i listed above.

the center holes are completly milled out. i think someone thought this would help.

actually from what i have read over the years that will hurt performance. the holes were design so that the carb could get the vacuum signals that it needed to control the idle circuits and for the power valve.

since you already have the set up you could give it a try and see what happens. i hope it works out for you, when those carbs are set up correctly they perform quite well plus the "wow" factor that they get at the shows.

Better yet talk to Ben at Promax carbs He'll be able to let you know what to expect from your setup.
I'm sending in my 6pak setup this winter for a restoration and the Maxpack upgrade. Carbs come back Dyno'd and Blueprinted.

Max is correct,

Awhile back one of the Mags was doing a manifold shootout on an engine they were dyno testing. They removed the center divider on a 6-pack manifold to create a modified single plane in the hopes that it would make more power. It didn't work on that particular build and the motor lost power as compared to the unmodified intake. Some things are better left alone....
