Hey gang, wanted to get the motor all done and ready to put into car ,and I have to say this was alot of fun compared to the bodywork and paint stage of a resto. The engine came out of my car which ran perfectly,so I left the short block together just added new cam, lifters, pushrods, rockers, oil pump,MP oil pan and pickup, new repo exhaust manifolds, date coded intake, rebuilt and replated  AVS carb, and a set of redone heads with  hardened seats,SS valves, and all the new odds and ends for the engine.Pretty much everything other than the short block is new.
I chemically stripped the block to bare cast iron and cleaned it very thoroughly for the new paint to go on,glass beaded the intake(looked brand new when I was done),did the same for all the pulleys, brackets, valve covers,PS pump, mounts, etc.Had to prime and block the valve covers due to some rust ptting so that was the only piece that was'nt bare before paint.I like to be correct as possible with the colors of items on these cars,so the paint I used was Roger Gibsons formula of PPG acrylic enamel for 69 440.I painted under the intake and the valley pan before I put them on the motor, left the water pump housing off to get paint behind it and on the whole timing cover as well.As I am used to using epoxy on everything before topcoat for good paint adhesion, but it was recomended that it goes right on the bare cast iron, just like the factory did and NOT to add any hardener(catalist). As far as I am concerned for myself, the color is perfect and would use it again.Acrylic enamel sprays awesome for things like this, lays out flat, dries fast, and for some of you other guys that spray, the smell is great(yes I wear a mask). There are still a few correct bolts, belts, hoses, and correct looking clutch fan I need to get ,most likely at Carlisle, to complete it,but for the most part it's ready for the car. Here are some pics....
