Can someone identify this for me, I am hoping it is for a '68 Charger, auto console harness.. :shruggy: :shruggy:

Corellian Corvette

Pretty sure it's not the console harness. Console harness isn't that long, and it would have 2 large light fixtures. It LOOKS like the overhead light harness - that goes up the A Piller, across the roof, to the dome light.

It looks like it could possibly be the harness that takes you from the fuseblock to the center hump. This is a long harness as it travels through the dash to the driver side kick panel, then extends under the driver seat to the hump. If it is indeed this harness, you are missing the portion that actually goes in the console with the side lamps, shifter light and reverse light switch pigtail. If I am right, you scored the hardest to find part of the assembly.

I have a excellent light harness for inside the console and a NOS reverse light switch. If I am correct I am seeing a violet wire in the middle portion
of the pic and that would be for the reverse light..correct?? I don't think its the overhead/dome light harness.
I really hate to buy this thing and not be right. If push comes to shove I can make my own harness, shouldn't be too big of a deal!!
Anyone else have anything to add, I will put the seller off one more day!

Seller emailed me and said one of the sub harness's has a part #on it...2926-366.
Does that help anyone in helping me identify this thing??
Thnx Chuck

Another question, the yellow wires with the snipped off ends are they for the door switches?? I thought they were a part of the dash harness. :shruggy:

I never wired a 1968, just a few 1969's. But I have had the harnesses. There is a difference due to the reverse light stuff in the 1968, so I am unclear of what the colors are doing.

The door jamb switch wires: Atleast on the 1969-70 version, which I assume is the same in 1968,  you plug the usual dome light switch wire coming out of the dash harness into a female socket attached to a dome light looking wire on the console harness, then plug identical looking male end into the door jamb switch. This is what makes the console lights come on when you open the door.

I have a parts book online you can download at http://www.jimshine.com/charger/69_MOPAR.pdf

Just right click on the hyperlink you see underlined above and "Save target as". It will take a little while, but will give you all the part numbers you will need.

The link wouldn't work on my end. I will repost the question different, maybe I will get someone who knows who knows more about it...Thnx!!

Chuck,
You should have four wires.
The purple is your reverse lead.  Black should have an eyelet to screw to the floorboard as ground.  The pink and the yellow are for your console lights that work with the dome light circuit.  There is still too much wire there like you also have a portion of the dome light harness that goes up to post the dome. Plus it looks like part of the door switch  harness.  The big connector bottom right of your pic is the end that goes to the console sub-harness.

Hi Mike,
Thnx for responding. Just got email from the seller with the part #. It is not for a '68. He also said he had a extra harness in there.I guess this solves my problem!!
