Thanks, it was all go and no show, I used to run low 11s on slicks when I raced, I had so much money in engine work, but no money in the paint thats why the paint was fading, I would to say I was blowing the paint right off. LMAO

Low 11's  :o.  That thing was moving.  Can you give us some details on the specs of the motor and rest of drivetrain at that time in 1979.  Did you have any Direct Connection parts in there? Take us back in time.

Those bring back some memories,I had a tunnel ram on my 70 Charger R/T SE.I ran two Holley 660 carbs. It looked the balls, ran awsome, and cost me the motor! But it was a blast! My friend Jim has a 70 Charger R/T,with a tunnel ram on it,but he has two Holley projet throttle body fuel injectors on it,and they are computer controlled, and can be adjusted from inside the car while you are driving! It's a pretty cool setup!

No it’s not a Hemi, I wish. The pics are deceiving I painted the valve covers with a black wrinkle finish because I love the color on Hemi valve covers.
As far as the specs for 1979 that was a long time ago and many changes but to the best of my recolection the 440 had 121/2 to 1 forged pistons, cam had a 550 lift, roller rockers, gear drive timing 2 holley 660 center squirters. Played allot with the jetting. Heads were ported and polished, I was running my Hemi 4-spd to the Dana with 4:10 factory gears, the I also ran 4:56 gears from time to time depending on how things were running. I have to see if I have any of the old recipts for the parts and et slips from the track.. I bought all kinds of things from Direct Connection (Mopar Parts) I think I eve have one of the original catalogs with parts circled.

Great pics! Looks just like my '69 did when the previous owner had it.

There aren't enough Charger street machines left.   Everyone clones their 318 & 383 cars to stock style RT cars as opposed to going the street machine route.  It would be nice to see more of the less valuable car owners going that route.   When I do my next one I think that's the route I'll go...

Ah....Tunnel Rams with velocity stacks.

Heres a shot of what was hanging out of the hood of a '70 Runner I had at the age of 15 in 1982, collecting dust now:

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."
