On both sides of the engine it has this number: 2536430-6

It has some extra number on the right side of the block which is 6 and a dot and then 7 + a number which is a little hard to see but its either 6,3 or 8.

+ one arrow which points on a D and one that point to the number 1.

This is all I could find on the block, but maybe I didnt hard enough.

Some info on the block would be great.

Thanks

On both sides of the engine it has this number: 2536430-6This is the casting number for a 66-72 440 and the  -6 is the core revision number

It has some extra number on the right side of the block which is 6 and a dot and then 7 + a number which is a little hard to see but its either 6,3 or 8.this is the casting date 6= June 7= day and the last number is the year. Check the front pad to help confirm the year.

+ one arrow which points on a D and one that point to the number 1.This tells you on which shift the block was cast. Sounds like it was cast on the day shift

This is all I could find on the block, but maybe I didnt hard enough.Look at the front pad for more info such as model year, HP or not and assembly date. Also check the passenger's side for a pad. If this is a block for a 69 model year car, there should be a VIN number on that pad.

I found a few more numbers and letters on my block. Maybe it will help.

This was what I found out today, probably more numbers hidden but this was what I saw.

Dd cid.

PH362 or DH362

2205862-2

On top of the block it said either 16 77 38 or 6 7 8  :

Im not 100% sure, everything is a little worn out.

Also found these numbers:  Np or ND under the casting number (2536430-6).

7A.

Number 5 under the sparkplug on the driverside

And the last thing I found out in the front was: E 440   8   2   P

Hope this helps.

And the last thing I found out in the front was: E 440   8   2   P

E= year code for 1969

440= displacement

8 2= Build date August 2 (1968) This coincides with the 6 7 8 casting date on the side

P= Premium fuel needed

Look for a machined flat just above the pan gasket on the passenger side, you should find a VIN or partial VIN stamped there.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Tarzan

I could only see these numbers on the driver side: 2536430-6  but there could be more. Not easy to see on the driverside, too much in the way.

Thanks for letting me know. I am glad to hear that its a 69 block.

Whoops!! My bad, the stamped VIN is on the passenger side; I corrected the post.

Did not see the vin number but somewhere else it said:

PS 126B 1  5/8

Does this mean anything?

Where did you see it and it's doubtful it means anything. Except for the VIN, we've found the most important things: the casting date and the pad stamping. Look again for the VIN on the passenger's side.
