Well, just when your start feeling soory for your self about having no shoes, you see a person with no feet. :-[

Here I having been crying about my 440 problems, I get a call for help from a person with no feet.

This link is to Marc, a memeber of St Louis Aera Mopar (SLAM). 68 Charger.

His garage got on fire, guess what was sitting in it? Yep, his 68 Charger. He does'nt know if the Charger can be saved, l will be going over this weekend and take a look at it for him. Worst part is the interior from what I can see in the PIC's.

Hope he can save her, or should I say hope he has some funds for a interior.

I keep thinking about my garage. What if??? My wifes Vette and the Charger share the place.  As long as no one was hurt. Let him know we feel for him.

That's bad news.
I think about that too, you can't help not to.

Does he know how it started?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

That really blows! As long as no one got hurt or no one lost their life, thats the main thing. Hopefully he was over insured.

Glad to see no one was injured.  Hopefully he had an agreed value policy that can cover his losses and he can rebuild.  I am curious to know how the fire started.  Maybe it was something everyone overlooks and should be brought to attention.  This is why I have been considering installing a fire system in my (hopefully) new garage.

What a damn shame.
Been there too, lost the 68 charger, the house (rental) and everything I owned except the clothes I was wearing, my collection of old Who records and two saxes that were at my parents' house and my cbr bike which I used as a home-work commuter.
I hope Marc is a little more lucky than I was, my charger not only got fried, it was also squashed by two stories of collapsing bricks, not a pretty sight.
I can fix just about anything, if worth it but not a totally burned out car, no more structural integrity left after a fire and not worth the effort but it looks like, altough seveire enough, this one might be saved.
Good luck Marc and keep your chin up, it's damn hard but you can't look back too much now.
Let me say this once and clear and I'll remind myself regularly too......GET SPRINKLERS.....and lots of them.Or whatever works. You care about your car, house, family, pets,....? Better protect it, whatever the best way is, I'll do so.
Firefighter where are you? We all can use some advice to protect our treasures.

Well as far as insurances, there is none period. Not on the Charger or the house. He was renting and did not have a policy.

You know he is a Mopar guy! Fire just happen and first thing he did was ask me for help for his Charger.
41 Husk, think I have found you a renter. ;)

I wish my house would burn sometimes! Contents of the House alone is $250,000.00 and most of the crap is my wifes! $250,000.00 would but a smile on my faces. House is insured for currnet rebuliding cost, not what I paid for the house.

When I go out and look at the Charger I will take some PIC and post details about the Charger and what kind of shape he is in as well. Maybe we can help him out in some way.

Silly ass me, I got thinking about it and just sent him a nother E-mail to see if he need any help with clothes, food, places to stay.

Depending what I hear back from him, might be time to start a small drive to help him out. Heck, we all gave something to the people in New Orleans, why not to a fellow Mopar person. At less me know the Fire, the Mopar Fire is in him.

Will up date after I hear from him.

Ugh.     :bawling:   I had a dream like that the other day...luckily I woke up to a safe car and garage.   Send your buddy my condolences.   Hope he lands on his feet.

chargervert

That sucks about that garage fire,I hope your friend can save his Charger! I just had to scrap a 69 Raod Runner, that a guy from my area crashed, when the car got away from him,and he wacked a pole with the right rear quarter, and to make things worse, the fuel line was severed, and the electric fuel pump, kept spewing fuel all over, and the metal dragging down the pavement caused the Runner to burn to the ground! The guy wasn't hurt, but the runner burned all the way to the dash before it was extinguished. It was a 383 4 speed car!the nose and motor and trans were saved, and I was able to cut out some structual peices for a friend of mines 69 Coronet convertible! The guy didn't have classic car insurance, just basic liability insurance, and got nothing for his loss!!!!!A word to the wise, insure them for there value, and keep a fire extinguisher in the car!

ChargerBill

Pretty sad, but I'm glad no one was hurt. The car looks rebuildable to me...hopefully he had home or renters insurance. I wish I had some spare parts lying around, it would be nice to be able to help him out. Tell him to join the board and start looking for parts and help.

Tell him once he gets his stuff together and can work on his car again, I will give him any extra '68 parts I have from my '68 project that he can use to fix up his car. I know I have some interior stuff.

AirborneSilva

Ken, damn!!!!  Please give my condolences, man I hope that it can be saved.

Hey Tony, depending where you are with legal action and what he does with his Charger it might be what you need to save your Charger.

Jim, that was a very nices offer. When I meet wih him I will tell him you may have some parts' he can have.

If, this does not get saved, it will more than likely be do to the dash and the wiring. That is the one thing I will not be able to help him with.

Bill, like I said, he has no insurances period.

Have not heard back from him yet. Hope he has a places to stay.

THE COLONEL

Give him all our best.  At least no one got hurt, that is the most important thing.  I do hope he can save the Charger.

That's too sad. Pretty much the only thing left of it looks like the metal parts. I'm sure all the plastic, vinyl and rubber is shot. That's got to be pretty disheartening. But it's good no one was injured.

Yeah, I didn't mean to downplay his living arrangements. I hope that is fine. I just know I can help on the charger front and it may make him feel less hopeless. To start, I have a full 1968 AC dash wire harness he can have.

RD

ouch, i am sure he is devastated, i would be.  I dont know what I can help with (being a 3rd gen guy), have him lay out a list of stuff he needs and post it here.

I know the people here are the best. Thank's to the old site Jerry had a good looking car. Old postng about Friends of Kid's with Cancer.

What has me a little worried, have yet to hear back from him. Have contacted a company that re do house's that had a fire (Kent) and he has some stuff that will get the "your Charger is toast smell" out of the Charger. Also does not hurt that Kent has a 68 Charger that need's TLC as well. ;)

Hope I hear from him soon.

I have never meet him, just know me from the SLAM website. But a Charger or Mopar owner in need is a friend indeed. When I hear from him, I sure the heck make sure he joins this great site. I have yet seen a single offer of help from SLAM.

Time to work on the POS 440 in my Charger some more, yanking the junk $7000.00 440. Hum, a fire sound real good right now.
