I just installed my new engine harness from yr1 , i bought the modified engine harness,  the motor  is  a  1983 318 cu engine and altinator  i put a petronix electronic ignition in . i just found out i need the 4 pin ballast resistor .
while on the phone with yr 1 tech they said i need to change to the electronic voltage regulator too . is this true ?
any help
would be great
thanks

electronic ignition works NOTICEABLE better with electronic regulator.

however electronic regulator is used with double field alt, not single field alt. Which one do you have ?

if you have single field, don't worry, just need a drill, insulator and brush con convert a single dield into double field

i was told that because of the age of the alt.  it's a  1983  i have a double field , , how can i check to be sure?  i have 3 connections on  the back

then is a double field and one of the best, 80s ones... but could it be modified to work like single fiels grounding one of the brushes. Chech for continuity between brushes and chassis. BOTH HAVE TO BE ISOLATED to work correctly with electronic regulator

check this, could it be usefull:

there is another thread that could it be usefull. will search for it.
