I must admit... there's a lot more there than I ever would have expected for $1000  :o   That's a keeper there... buy it  :2thumbs:

Just don't go parting the thing out  :flame:   Clean it up and sell it again if you have to, you'll get your money back and more. If you do sell it, make sure it goes to someone who is going to take care of it and fix it up right.

Where are you, oldcarnut, and how far from Central Ohio is this car? I want it and have most of the major stuff to fix it already stashed. I can't believe you are even THINKING about passing that up!

If you don't buy it, better pass the info to someone like kab because this seems like one of those scenarios where the poor car gets crushed.

You know there were fewer than 16,000 made in '67, right? They're not making any more of 'em, either.

I don't have the trailer to go get it, the room to store it, or the time to restore it (right now), but I'd be falling all over myself to get $1000 to that guy as quickly as I could.

Yup... 15,788... and only (117 Hemis, and 660 440s)

Ok so I went out today and bought it.  Tommorrow I'll get a rollback and take it to friends house not to far from there and store it for a few weeks at his farm until I can get caught up with other things here at home. The last two of my three kids are graduating from college in early May and will free me up. Plans will be to ck it out, clean it up some, get it running, etc. and then list it on maybe ebay.  I'll list it for what I'll have into it and let it go from there--guessing starting $1100 after title, fees, etc.  Would be nice to have someone get it to restore or use to restore one they have. Some were probably right as it may have been eventually turned in for scrap metal value although several people had inquiured about buying it. It never had a for sale on it.  He gave me a bunch of extra 66-67? spare parts.  Filled up the back of my truck and the trunk of the Charger.  Trim, grill stuff, interior, wiring, dash, engine parts, 66 block, etc.  I'm not sure where all of fits but it was stuff he said he had from owning several of those Chargers I will be getting rid of all that too separately plus more stuff I have been storing in the garage to sell or trade for some stuff I can use on the 70 RR I bought for the Superbird clone.  I'm not into the parts or car selling for a business but I'm just someone who likes the hobby and will use the Charger and probably the Challenger to help pay towards the Janak kit on order and other stuff for it. I have probably given more stuff away to guys who needed it to restore their cars than I have ever sold even for cheap but I can't afford to do that anymore.  Last few times I gave some parts to people that said they really needed it for their cars then they turned around and sold it for a couple hundred or more dollars  :brickwall:.  Thanks for all the inputs.  I was teetering on the fence until the wife said to just go ahead and get it and don't worry about it.  :2thumbs: It's great to have such a cooperative wife. I live in SC.

Its a 70 T/A wannabee but with a 318 276 gear.  It's a nice car and a main source of transportation for us.  Gets about 18.5 mpg on the road just a little less than the Avalanche but a whole lot more fun to drive. Always gets the "I wouldn't..." comments about driving it all the time but I'm not one for leaving it in the garage to look at.  We're gonna miss it when it's gone   :icon_smile_sad: in a couple months or so.

Nice looking Chally and nice score on the '67!

What do you get for mileage in the Avalanche? Our Hemi Ram 1500 can barely manage 14 on a good day :icon_smile_dissapprove: .

Its an 04 with 51K. Had it since new
According to the dash readout average
75-85mph 16-17mpg
At 70-75mph 17.5-19
60-70mph 19-20.5
Rarely has gotten less than 17 around town.  Worst was around 15
Pulling a loaded car trailer 10-12
I've been real happy with it.  Sometimes feels a little lacking in power but mpg will vary some depending on the gas quality and road elevations but on avg. on relatively non-hilly roads thats about it.
My dad's Hemi Ram 1500 also gets worse milage than his Chevy but he likes the Dodge better.  If Dodge had come out with something closer to the Avalanche instead of the Durango I would probably have bought it.  The last new Dodge truck I bought was the Ramcharger in 86.
I'm spending more time when possible riding my Kawasaki KLR650 since gas has gone up so.  It's hard to beat that 50mpg. :icon_smile_big:

Ghoste

But this man could use white interior parts if they're better than what I have in the car now.  :icon_smile_wink:

oldcarnut

If anyone wants any particular pics or see if something came with the extra parts feel free to shoot me an email and I'll check in the pile.

Ive got a 2002 ram 1500 with the 5.9 (gas not diesel)...computer average says 10.7 mpg  :eyes:
Best I ever saw on the "instant average" or w/e its called was 17 mpg for about 15 minutes...then came a stretch of road that wasnt downhill.

I love that truck though..

Need some help with a VIN search. The VIN on the car @ bill of sale was XP29H72159143
The ViN on the owners Cert. and reg. he gave with it was XP29H72268264
I don't think there is anything up and I hope he just gave me the wrong papers but if anyone here has access to check them out could you let me know if they are registered to the same guy.  Thanks.

Musicman

Ghoste

Not much to check out, the two vins are different.  You need to look on the drivers door jamb and verify what is on there and then find out what paperwork you have.

oldcarnut

Thanks and it's good source of info. but what I need to know if they come up as the same owner in the DMV or stolen, etc.  The decoder lists both cars the same 383-4bl etc. and maybe I can break it down into prod. numbers for the 4speed when I sell it.  The vin tag for this was in the front door jamb.  I thought they were all on the dash top.  Is that the right place for it? I don't remember seeing the fender tag although I was too concerned about other things at the time especially after the guy slammed the hood shut on my fingers and bloodied them up a bit.  I'll try to see if I can get one of the cops on patrol at the plant to run it for me tonight.  Making the deal on this car was easy but wow, getting it from the place and registered has turned into something else.  Thanks for the reply and link.
David

lol--I guess you beat me to it while I was replying
XP29H72159143  was what I wrote from the door jamb plate

Ghoste

Door jamb is correct for 67, they didn't move to the dash top until 68.
