Charger1973

Im glad youre going to pick it up.  Hopefully it will end up with someone who will restore it rather than part it and junk it. 71 RTs kick total a$$, id like to have one even if it wasnt all original, but I cant afford another project either.

73ChargerSE

For me, I don't need it whatsoever.  I bought it because it was a SMOKIN deal and I happen to have the money (just sold a '69 T-bird) I'm paying 1k for it.  I may have someone that's interested in the shell, but I'm not too sure.  If I can, I'd like to find another door so I can switch the R/T door out and be a little bit greedy in the process :nana:  Like Larry said, it's missing it's original R/T parts.  I do know where there is an R/T hood that I WAS going to buy a few years back, but the guy raised the price and I did not have the money.  I may look into going back and getting it, maybe to sell to the person that I sell the car to.  Don't get me wrong, I love Chargers, and I love this car, but I just can't do it when I've got another car needing quite a bit to get it back on the road again.  Like I said, I happened to stumble upon it.  If I had the time, money and parts, I'd keep it, but I have my priority.

Death1970Proof

I say take what you can use on your car, sell the rest (part out). Then sell the shell to a buyer that really wants it or has a couple '71's in terrible shape. I see no loss here, you get $$ to fix your '73,some parts to fix your '73 and somebody ends up with a '71 r/t charger!  :2thumbs:

If I ran across a real good deal on something Id have to flip because I have to much going on now and cannot afford to be working on anything else. I often sell parts to complete what Im working on. Ive sold quite a bit off my '70 charger (original items) since the car wont be restored back to factory anyways because it's to far gone to put back original. The perfect car to modify and enjoy  :2thumbs:
"Remember when I said this car was death proof? Well that wasnt' a lie-this car is 100%death proof- only to get the benefit of it honey you really need to be sitting in my seat"...

Don't loose hope.
Play the game, look for parts. Luckily, 1971 Charger parts aren't really all that scarce.
Find a donor vehicle and swap out the parts you need. The missing R/T door and a specific R/T hood are going to be your major stumbling blocks.
Keep checking the classifieds here on this forum, those at Moparts.com, and ebay.
I'll bet you can put this car together for under $5000.
Good luck. :2thumbs:

The problem is that I don't have 5k to spend.  I need to get a transmission rebuilt, buy new wiring, and rebuild a rear end for my car before I can think about anything. I don't want to just let it sit, someone that has more passion in it needs to own it.  Besides, the fact that I know of a complete R/T that may be for sale, sounds a little more appealing to me.

P.S. If you are interested in the tail lights, send me a PM and make me an offer.  I now have them in my possession.

Goldfinger71

You,have to be patient if you want to keep it.71 R/T specific parts don't grow on trees and when you find what you need the parts alot of times are a little pricey. :yesnod: Becuase most people know what they have and are trying to make as much cash as they can.

For example I have been looking for a drivers side R/T door forever becuase mine is heavily damaged in the gill area. It's very rare that you just find 1 door for sale.People like to sell in pairs a majority of the time which of course make sense.
I have seen R/T doors pop up for sale now and then but of course get ready to pay! Please don't ask me about the $1200.00 dollars I paid to a fellow board member here for my doors, only to find major structure damage in the louver area!Heck, even the door edge was damaged. The bondo job was so good you could not see the damage until it was stripped. It is salvageable but is taken ALOT of work which is costing even more money! :P Im better of just finding another door but im NOT going to spend $2000.00 on a pair of doors like the ones on Ebay now! :rotz:

Good luck either way my friend,if you have patience it could be brought back to life! :2thumbs:

I agree 100%  Clean it up a little , bolt a few things back on, and flip it whole. Make yourself a couple grand and be happy.
PLEASE do not hack up a restorable R/T.

I will probably post it there coming up shortly.

I have someone that may be interested in the car, hopefully. I believe I am going to separate it with the tail lights, find another 71 door for the passenger side, bolt up a rear end to it and try to make it a roller.  Sell the R/T door and tail lights, keep the 150 speedo for my car and MAYBE the console/shift linkage.  I think this would be the best way and the way I'd get the least clout.  I didn't want to cut it up, that'd just be nuts.  Anyone got a set of old rotors?

twilt

Well, it sounds to me that you are chasing the $$$ by separating the hardest to find parts from the car. Thats your business and I won`t be negative about it. On the other hand, I am sure glad that the guy I bought my 72 Rallye from, refused a VERY NICE offer to sell the Ramcharger hood off of it. He decided that (despite the $$ that could be gained) the hood should stay with the car and..... I thank him for that.

Magnumcharger

I used to have a nice 1971 Charger R/T...Hemi Orange, white interior.
It was pretty well all there, louvered hood, doors, two sets of tailights.
I needed to sell it, and had LOTS of offers for the individual parts! But I wanted to see the car restored, and hung in there looking for the right buyer.
A fellow finally showed up, very enthusiastic about the car, told me it was the car of his dreams...etc, etc...so I sold it to him, at a break-even price.

He immediately parted it out....live and learn.

I would be just like every single person on this forum and go for the $$$$ . Take every piece I didn't need , cut it up and sell it all for top dollar .
If one thing on this forum has taught me is people have noble thoughts of saving cars until a car is one that they have . Then it is all about how much $$$ they can pry out of your wallet for parts . Then all is ok to part out if they are making the money . So be just like all the other gold diggers and get all you can . They will do it to you .  :2thumbs:

  Geez what a transformation ole hemihead has undergone.  Not long  ago he was at one radical end of the spectrum, constantly whining about sellers greed, now he is at the opposite end.             "If you cant beat em...... join em"   :smilielol: :smilielol:
Hemi....... would you now also encourage that he sell the R/T VIN plate separately as well as all of the body stampings?

hemihead

If you can't beat'em , join'em  , right ?  I've learned from the best right here .
