My 07 RT was just broken in to.  They did something with the key hole, kinda like peeled it open slightly.  I could not tell until someone told me about this yesterday.  How did they defeat my alarm and how do I fix this to where they cannot do this again.  I am major P.O.'d!

That seems to be the recent trend.  The sheet metal on new vehicles has become such a thin guage that it's fairly easy for thieves to peel it open and just turn the lock cylinder and unlock your car.  The alarm didn't go off because it thoguht it was just you unlocking the car with the key.  You are the third person I've heard of this happening to in as many weeks and I don't think there is much you can do about it.  Locks are only to keep honest people out and alarms are just for annoying your neighbors.

Sorry to hear that.  I had a car broken into once and it's very invasive.  Peeling back the sheet metal, unreal.  Do it on one car and they can do it on all cars.  Remember when the domestic vehicles were always thicker steel than the imports?   Not no more. :icon_smile_blackeye:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

thats weird...

on the 87 trans am i used to have, if u turned the key while alarm was on, it went off. New 07 doesnt?

They could least stick a good system in a car of that price...

I went to the dealer yesterday and they told me the only thing i could do was get an aftermarket alarm system.  I had them give me the list of parts for the key tumbler in hopes of creating a new piece made of titanium but even if made of titanium whomever could still jam a screwdriver in the key hole and get in without the alarm going off.  Bottom line is a new alarm system!  Although they didn't steal anything i'm still way P.O.'d about the whole thing!
