V08 means a non standard or recommended combination. It doesn't mean Vinyl top delete. For example, the SE tan leather interior was not recommended with blue exterior but you could probably order it. If this combination was ordered, you would see the V08 code.

I've also seen a 70 FC7 Charger with V1G Gator Grain which is not recommended. The car coded V08.

As of now, out of the over 1500 Chargers registered, I only have two (2) Chargers coded on the tag for the V08 option.

The reason for this was the color combination of an R4 bright red exterior with an R6 red interior.  The recommended exterior color for this combo was R6/R6

On the flip side I have 2 other Chargers registered with the R4/R6 combo with NO V08 option on the tag.   It wasnt a plant specific coding either because I have one from the St Louis plant as well that is coded with the V08
Vinyl top or not does not matter as well

May I ask the reason why you ask?   Do you have a 69 with V08 on the tag?  If so I'd like to know

MY 69 charger doesnt have a vinyl top code!!!! So it doesnt make since to me!!!!! Why would they name the V08 code vinyl top delete, if it had to do with paint.

As stated above, some sources cite V08 as vinyl top delete which is incorrect. V08 refers to non standard or recommended top, color or interior combinations. The R4 C6R combo posted is a great example of a non recommended combination that triggers the V08 code.
