Just a follow up to Shakey's complete rebuild..... Here are all the part numbers condensed for a rebuild on a 69 Charger.  All parts are Moog, and also contain the upgraded tie rods and sleeves as mentioned in Shakeys post.  The upper control arm bushing set is the performance set also.  Everything was bought at RockAuto.com, and shipping was only about $8 since it was all shipped from the same warehouse.  Hope this helps.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Same for 68 and 70ds, I'm sure. Thx

Thanks for that - I'm doing the same thing for my suspension rebuild and getting it all locally.  Shipping charges suck!  :yesnod:

OttawaCharger...
It might not hurt to price them online and locally.  I went to a local CarQuest, and for all the components they wanted close to $75 more than RockAuto with shipping.   To give you an idea, everything shipped ran $380.

OttawaCharger

Thanks 69fourspd.  I was actually thinking of getting these from Carquest
Are you north or south of the 49th Parallel? (what I mean is, is that American dollars or Canadian dollars?)

I got that complete collection of Moog parts from Rockauto a couple of weeks ago.  The items were shipped from three warehouses and everything came in three days.  They left one tie rod end out.  I called and they apologized and had the missing tie rod end here in two days.  Their prices were significantly better than I could do locally.

I am having a real problem getting parts locally.  All we have is Autozone, Pep Boys, Advance, O'reilly, and NAPA.  Thats about it.  Pep Boys is just no good anymore.  They like to sell blister pak stuff, Harbor Freight tools, Chinese motorbikes, and floor mats.  Never seem to have any hard parts anymore.  And generally, they don't/won't order things.  A lot of their stuff comes up on the computer "outside" which means they try to go to another store in town for the part.  Autozone did have the Timken bearings I needed.  But generally, it's Duralast or nothing.  Might be good or might not----you don't know who made the part.  Advance didn't have any of the Raybestos brake stuff I needed.  They did have Wagner which is very good too but the cost was way higher than Rockauto had on the Raybestos.  Their other choice was some cheap offbrand.  And Raybestos was the only one that had all the little brake parts I needed.  O'reilly helped me with the Cardone brake master.  We had to order three and finally call Pennsylvania and get the Cardone guy to walk out into the warehouse and physically find the correct master.  Turns out that Cardone combined 5 part numbers so it's a crap shoot as to what you get.  All will work but only one is really correct.  And to boot, the cap is sandblasted too.  One I got was full of real bad rust pits but my parts guy swapped one of the other caps out for me.  Good guy.  They do have some good paint---even a little SEM---they have tried to help me----had the correct USA made Wagner 11.75 inch rotors.  NAPA sometimes surprises me with what they have.  They were the only place that could supply me with the brake booster check valve (UP 89005).  Had one in Atlanta.  And that was it for their district.  If I wanted another one, I would have to pay UPS from another district to get it.  Rockauto did fail me on this one.  They had the correct Raybestos part, CK89005 I think it was, but wanted more for shipping that item than the item cost (something like $5.84 for part and $6.55 for shipping it alone).  I tried putting down a starter and it only was $8.55 for shipping and when you added the check valve, they still hit me for an additional $6.55.  So chasing parts for these old cars is a real adventure.  You have to literally use every resource you have to find the parts----new or used.  And I wonder how much longer some of the new aftermarket stuff is going to be available.  It really worrys me.  Better get it while you can because just because something is listed on the computer doesn't mean it will be available much longer into the future.  Oh, I heard that American Racing is going up $40/wheel on their Torque Thrust D's.  I guess the Chinese have raised the price on Aluminum now.  By the way, I know about Year One and have ordered at least $2k worth from them.  Also aware of the other Mopar aftermarket suppliers and have cultivated a relationship with the local MOPAR dealer for Mopar Performance/OEM parts.  Just had to rant a little about the local places.  I guess I am just remembering what it was like 20 years ago to buy parts.  You could get most any "replacement" items locally and it was made in the USA and good stuff.  And they had parts books with lots of info too.  No parts books now.  Just what's on the computer screen and that ain't much at most places.

I have a picture of a beautiful 69 charger on the wall above my computer screen.  Had a guy at work run it off on the plotter just before I retired.  It's my inspiration.  It's more or less what I am striving for.  All I have to do is look at it for a while and I get fired back up to continue the chase.  I will say that this site has been my salvation.  I have learned so much on here (and from two Mopar buddies locally).  I really am thankful for this site and all the knowledeable folks that go out of their way to help everyone.  I've had my rant.  I feel better now.  Thanks to all for the help and comraderie.

OttawaCharger - I live in Chicago, Illinois.  Chatt69chgr brought up a good point with RockAuto.  If there is a part that ships from a seperate warehouse, you get creamed on the shipping.  I am not sure if it will change, but all the suspension parts shipped out of the same warehouse.

Chatt69chgr,
I know your frustrations all to well.  Finding quality parts for these cars is getting harder and harder.  I especially try to get all parts made in U.S.A, but sometimes it just cant happen.  The local parts dealers aren't even carrying parts for my 89 pickup anymore!!

i'm in the middle of the same thing :P
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Awesome!  Would these part numbers be the same for a 68?
Thanks a lot!   :icon_smile_big:

I'm going to be doing the front rebuild very soon (within the next few weeks)

Thats right.  These should be the same for 68 also.

Could I get a little help understanding this.

The tie rod ends listed are not the same part # for Charger's listed at Rockauto.

For example:

Charger  Part # ES319L (tie rod end)   $38.79

Shakeys Part #  ES355RL  (tie rod end)   $18.67

I seem to remember a thread about using C Body tie rod ends but what is up with the $20.00 difference in price?
Are the cheaper tie rods bigger or smaller?  I'm sorry if this has allready been covered somewhere else, but I plan on placing a similar order this weekend and of course want to get the most for my money.

Here's the thread,

Must be a larger supply of C Barge tie rod ends?   :shruggy:

I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and go with cheaper parts but it just leaves me

So does anybody have any feedback on using these?

If you are looking for better handling of your car, I highly recommend using Moog's offset upper control arm bushings.  When installed correctly, these bushings allow greater caster adjustments, which will help to center the steering when exiting corners and enhance higher speed steering stability, with a stock-looking setup.  :2thumbs:
