Dang, the more I look into this it is getting confusing.   I found another site saying it is Stephen King.   Some facts about the car in an artice:


"In 1982 writer Stephen King completed a new horror novel called "Christine". It was about a 1958 Plymouth Fury that possesses its new owner, high school nerd named Arnie Cunningham.

In the book Mr. King makes several references to the 1958 Plymouth Fury that were not accurate. We have come up with some errors about the 1958 Fury that appear in the book:

Book: Christine is referred to as a 4 door.
Fact: The 1956-58 Furys only came in a 2-door hardtop. It was not until 1959 you could get a 4 door Fury.

Book: Christine is red and white. (It is mentioned that she was a special order.)
Fact: The 1958 Fury only came in buckskin beige with gold trim. The 1958 Belvedere, the next model down, was available in toreador red and iceberg white, with silver trim.

Book: The transmission is called hydramatic.
Fact: That was a GM transmission, Plymouth had the TorqueFlite.

Book: One line says, "I saw Christine's transmission lever suddenly drop into drive."
Fact: The 1958 Plymouths had push button drive."

Here is another movie poster that shows the grill.   Maybe what I am seeing is just that it is lit up a certain way that makes it look different.

I think the Fury name better fit the car's personality than Belvedere. They are the same body style just like a Satellite and Roadrunner. The Fury was the top of the line car. As made obvious by your last post I doubt Stephen King knew or cared much about what a Fury originally was supposed to be.

I still don't get the grill difference you are talking about in the pictures you posted..enlighten me.

stephen king is a writer, not a car guy, so thats why there is alot of mistakes in the book about the fury.... I read the book years ago... I thought it was a 57 in the book?  Also dennis didn't have a charger in the book, he had a duster.

   simple grill diff. one was gold one wasn't,.

I've posted on the older site, 'bout the dude Sonny at work that threatened to sell me his pristine '58 Fury for well over twenty years,.. I told him,.. over and over "Anytime Sonny!" but he never did,.. just said I had first dibs,.. finally just before he retired a couple yrs. ago he admited he's saving it for his son...
a mustang guy...   
I offered Sonny $14K for his Fury back in the '80s before i got my R/T... and that's how all that got started... I didn't have the scratch at   the time just $5k, but i would'a taken out a loan...
Sonny bought it new, it was garage kept & all original except some rubber, I would've jumped on it...
Ugly color though..
