I'm looking for a set of cast iron adjustable rocker arms and matching push rods.  Summit wants $300.00 just for the rockers without the rods and thats out of my budget.

Can anyone reccomend a good dealer that won't leave my budget dry?

this is an area that id save the money up for them or look on e bay for used crane or isky iron rockers .   i would not buy cheap off shore rockers to put in my motor.

Well then, let me ask you this.  Is it even worth it?  I'm running a hydrolic cam so I'm not sure how much adjusting I would even want to do.  My builder says get them, but my budget says "Whoa boy!  That's $400.00 by the time you add push rods and shipping!"

In other words...  ouch  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Dave, generally when the valve lift exceeds .520 the adjustables are recommended. Stock cams were only .450 lift and the factory setup was designed with that in mind.

Keep your eyes open....i've seen sets go for $100 on e-bay and in the classifieds. Moparts is a good place to look.  ;)

So would a MOPAR 509 camshaft work good with the stock rockers? And if so, is there a benefit to going with that size Cam on what will be a basically stock setup otherwise.  If not, I will be going with a .484 purpleshaft.

Don't mean to hijack the thread.

Ron,  would 1.6 or 1.7 also work?  Or should I stick with 1.5 only.  Just trying to keep as many options open as possible.  Thanks

Dave

It might cost a little more up front but it's cheaper than a granaded motor. Just food for thought.  :scratchchin:

Sure, the 509 will work fine with a stock valvetrain setup....but it's not the best choice for a street type build unless you plan on running 4.10 gears and a 3500 stall.  :Twocents:

There are much better cams available these days that will idle better and make more power in a usable power range for the street.  ;)
