Fishy eBay ad

Well, I've looked at this car before before the guy was going to sell it.  The VIN says it's a '69, and it's got a '69 front end.  The weird part is, that the tailpanel is a '68 and the quarters are '68.  The guy says in the ad that the previous owner switched them over.  There was no evidence on the car of the quarters and tail panel ever being welded.  Rebody?

I don't know, the car is so beat up everywhere it's hard to say what's original and what's been changed.  If they welded on a set of 68 1/4s, they didn't do a very good job inside the trunk as far as finishing them to the floor but what do I know.  The guy is pretty adamant that it's a 69 but I'd want to see the car in person first.

if you are serious... go see if the core support and the trunk has the matching numbers... no mention of a build sheet and the fender tag is missing too...

a definite must see in person and check the above before any buy.  sounds like a big headache if the numbers dont pan out....and, that car is a mess for $6,500.00 in my opinion.

Or even just welds on the inside of those 1/4's and tail panel where they were attached.

Oh I wasn't interested in it.  Just kind of putting it out there.  The car was a mess when I saw it, I just walked around it to get the feel for it.

Not a tag expert, but are those big pop up looking rivits on the dash correct?  Tag switched as mentioned before?

Where are the numbers at the trunk? I've had my car for 20+ years and feel like everything is still original, but it would be good information if I decide on another one.... But definitely not the one in that Ebay ad

Looks fishy to me. The bolts holding the dash in look to be in really good shape considering how rusty the cowl is.

Tilar, they'll be on the trunk lip under the weatherstripping and usually over on the drivers side about halfway up.

Well I'd get a pic of my rivets on my vin tag but I'm not at home. If you guys can wait, I can get a pic tomorrow

I know what they're supposed to look like, the pic is just too blurry for me to see if they are round or the rosettte style.  They look round but I hate to pick the car apart without a clearer photo.
