Ignition system pondering

I'm having an ignition problem I can't entirely trace and I am trying to backtrack.  First, the symptoms.  Car breaks up under load.  Not like a misfire and not once it's rolling. If you nail the throttle from an idle and a standstill, it stutters for about 1 or 2 seconds and then hauls it.  It was doing it when loaded against the converter too but that is becoming better.  Yesterday, it would die completely under these conditions.  Initially, I thought fuel because if you pumped the throttle under these conditions it would keep running.  I changed the carb and the stutter continued.  Today, I cahnged plugs and cleaned the reluctor and pickup and reset the gap and it seems improved but still stutters.
Now, last year I picked up a chrome ecu for the car just prior to the Nats.  While there, I picked up the MP black coil that I believe is supposed to be an MSD Blaster II.  I also got the correct ballast resistor for this coil.  This was purchased through Mancini's so I trust their opinion.
Come October last year, the chrome ecu was fried so I put my orange one back on.  By spring, it too was cooked so I got another chrome one.  Now the car has a stutter and I am wondering about this coil, ballast, ecu, combo.
Any theories out there?

How is the voltage regulator working ? Possibly too much votage making it's way to the ignition system ? Put a voltmeter on the battery terminals with the engine running at idle and check it at higher rpm.

have you switched to a 2 field alt & the electronic reg yet ?

Ghoste

It is a two field alternator and electronic regulator.  There was an issue recently with an overcharge condition though.  That can destroy it all?
