...Intrepid over the weekend, rented for 4 days.  I wanted to get an idea of how these things felt on the road to get a 'general' idea of what the Challenger will be like.  NOT impressed.

Road noise like crazy
Uncomfortable seats, 1.5 hours of driving and my back hurt
Never did get a comfortable driving "position"
Dash rattled and squeeked
Cheap looking interior
Chick friend review: interior is "ugly and uncomfortable"

Positives:
plenty of interior room
headroom like crazy for being 6'6"
decent visibility
handling was fair

Since this was the V6 I can't attest to performance

I really have been trying to give this car a fair chance but... If this is any real indicator of the Challenger, I'll pass.

I've been in or driven all the versions - Magnum, 300 incl. the RT sedan and SRT and the GC SRT8. and they left me cold, some things i liked but not all... none of them have scored higher then a 7 on my ten point meter...  :shruggy: while my '99 300M hit a 10 and it's a front wheel drive, four door, 6 Cyl. I rented the 300M twice before i went ahead and bought one, but never had the desire to rent the LX series...
That's maybe just me but i feel the blocky interior and exterior, orange peel paint interior materials and clunky style inside and out detracted the 3 points.
BTW: TK, i thought the NVH (noise, vibration and handeling) was one of the high points in both the V-8s and the 3.5 V-6...
:shruggy:

I've never sat in one but those seats do look hard as a rock.

2007 Interpid?  Didn't those stop production in 2005?  And the Intrepid was an LH platform front driver...

I was in vegas back in October and I rented a 300 w/HEMI from Dollar rent a car. I had a great experience. The car was plenty fast, handled quite well for a big four door sedan, Plenty of interior room for my xtra large body. I even took it for a quick blast up to Mt. Charleston. I loved the car......

I rented one of those V6 Interpids with the Charger badging on the trunk lid on a trip to MI.

What a POS rattle trap underpowered turd.

I own a 300C and even though its supposedly the same car there is absolutely no comparison between the too.

ahh...didn't have my sarcasm brain module tuned in, apologies!

I would not have minded the new Charger, if they had called it something like a CORONET!

But I never did care for it, would never buy one.  I know some people have them on here, and I don't want to offend them, its just not for me.  I appreciate Dodge keeping up the performance flame.  I do wish they would stop with the paint and decal department throwing Daytona and Super Bee stickers on things.  I mean, really.

I will say one thing.  I once rented the 4 cylinder Mustang.  Not only did it not move out or handle like my same year GT--which you would expect it would not--but it was a completely different car!  The feel, the ride, the seats, the sensation on the freeway, the vibration, everything.  You would never know you were in the same car.

Never, ever base your opinion on rental, or a slightly different model, even if they seem close.  You need to drive the real thing, in my opinion.

I was impressed with the V-6 Mustang I test drove last weekend, can't wait to get a drive in the V-8!

My son's 3.5 liter 06 Charger is different to drive than my 06 RT Daytona.  He gets almost 30 mpg at 70mph and I get 24.3 but I don't find his car underpowered.  My car handles much better that any 300C I've driven except the SRT 8.  I understand there are different suspension packages within the LX body line.

All of them handle better than any of our ten 66 and 67 B bodies.  They are all fun to drive and each has it's place in the stable.

I think the new Mustangs are nice but driving them instantly reminded me of the miserable seating they had when new so I would probably pass pn them.  I remember that the mustangs were simply a repackaged Ford Falcon.  I guess I'm just a mopar guy.

I'm confused.  What does that mean?

Not gonna go there but if you consider that '06 a Charger that's fine with me...........free country,  USA!

As I've said before...I don't particularly care for the name either, but I really do like the car on its own merits. Some people are so blinded by rage over the name that they can't fathom it being a decent car. I guess I should drive Toyotas instead...

dude...you were driving a rental. They're about as basic as they get (hence the cheap interior), and they aren't exactly taken care of by the people driving them (hence the rattles, etc). And it probably has the 2.7L engine, which is a dog.

For a truer feel of the car, go to a dealership and test drive an SXT (which is the best optioned v6) or an R/T. If you still don't like the feel, then I will accept your "review".

Yeah, I know it was the base-base one so I didn't expect anything on the power side.  Car had 19k on it and the dash squeeked and rattled.

I did ask for a 5.7 but they didn't have any.  Overall, I didn't like the ride or interior feel/looks or "fat ass" feel of being in that long 4-door.  I did like all the front seat room it had inside and turning radius (as compared to my Pathfinder)

There would have to be some SERIOUS suspension and interior upgrades on an R/T for me to consider an LX...

If I get something new this year it's definitely gonna be a V-8.  SO, not sure if I want to wait on the Challenger after this experience...

There are, trust me. And they re-did the interiors in the '08's.

If you can find one @ Hertz, try the GT-H Mustang. :yesnod:
I'm not a Mustang guy, but it was one helluva fun car.
Gave new meaning to, 'drive it like a rental car'.  :D
