Yep- These cars were going to the scrapper by the thousands for minor issues...The monster truck rally people would just get sponsored by the local "Pick and Pull" and cars of all kinds would be supplied.  It's just the way it was...

Hard to look at now, but then it was really no big deal to anyone.

Exactly what I was thinking.  It's a shame, but that's how it goes.  My generation saw countless Fox-bodies, G-bodies, F-bodies, and other cooler cars of the mid-late 80's get scrapped/parted out; when all they'd need was a heater core, or something easy like that.  It's the automotive cycle for the most part.  Everyone wont be in a rush to restore an older vehicle if there's always supply to meet the demand.
