1967 Chrysler Imperial value

Hi all,

I am seriously considering buying a 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown 2 Door Hardtop, LIKE.. the one in the  pic. accept it's blue on white,  completely stock and not quite as nice. the seller is asking 5k for it. the NADA online pricing guide values it between 4 and 13k and by their rating system I think the car falls in about the middle at 8k.

So...I guess what Im asking.. Is the NADA book a good guide for value? I'm not looking to flip the car, but if it's worth a lot more than 5k, it'll make my decision to buy and the negotiations a lot easier.

I am sorry about the lack of pics of the actual car, but the sighting was at the halfway point of a long road trip and my camera was allready full. The car is b5? blue with a white top and interior, all original and in nearly perfect condition. it has a 440 and AC.

Thanks for any input you might have. Aaron

The issue is finding a buyer who wants one.  I have a 68 Imperial that sounds in about the shape of the one you are looking for.  I tried to sell it but didn't get any bites at all - NADA, zip, and I wasn't even asking a lot (way below the NADA you are listing).  Either the NADA is way off, or more than likely, this is a specialty niche car with few interested parties.  These cars are very advanced and incredible comfortable for when they were made.  I took mine on a 500 mile road trip a couple of years ago - more comfortable then many new cars of today.

I seriously doubt for $5K that you could flip it - be prepared to hang on to it for a LONG time.  I paid less and asked less for mine and I have had it for 10 years now.  When my Charger is done, I'll repaint mine - put some nice wheels and a stereo and just enjoy it on cruses.

Go take a look at the imperial club for more information on these plush rides.  http://www.imperialclub.com
and do some research.  They are full frame cars with some special things like brakes, suspension, etc. made of unobtainium...

Good luck!

NADA is overpriced on old cars especially as of late. Knock off 20-30% IMO. They never adjusted it any less either since the economy took a $hit. :Twocents:

The two door hardtops are kind'a rare and those things are litterally tanks,.. i believe they are disallowed from distruction Derby's cause they are stouter then any other vehicle...
I dunno about price, but i do believe the folks looking for those are few and far between... that should work to your advantage if you do decide to pull the trigger...
That Imperial website is awesome BTW..  :drool5:

I'm an Imperial owner. The things I've found out about Imperials are you have to really like them, because once you've bought one, you own it. period. On a couple of occasions I've gotten bored and attempted to sell my Imperial. The only questions you get when offering an Imperial for sale are:  Does it have a steel crank 440 and does it have "Shock" bumpers?  After being ask these questions a few times, I said WTF?  Come to find out the Demolition derby guys like to buy the Big Chryslers, rip out that "Boat anchor" 440, sell it to some "Chrysler idiot", drop in their "Good 350" and go smash-up derbying...Some of the later model Chryslers have "Shock bumpers" Bumpers, that are mounted on some kind of shock absorbers, these cars are coveted by the derby guys.

I've seen the rules that say "No Chrysler Imperials" but apparently there is a way around this rule, They call it "Newporting" the car...They disguise Imperials as lesser Chryslers just so they can beat up on the other cars...

If you buy an Imperial, be prepared for every toothless F%^K in a rusted to death beat up old Silverado following you around trying to buy your car with their welfare checks.

Fear not ! Despite their size, Imperials will MOVE when you stomp that 440 to the floor, just leave ol' toothless in the dust... ;)

Hey thanks for all the help, I've changed my attitude a bit. sounds like this guy probably won't have lots of people beating down his door to get at the car....I hope. I'll let my offer of 35 sit for a week or two and see what happens. I'm also going to disregard the NADA #s.

I remember something one of the old mopars being the best at demos. didn't know it was these, I think it was something about the frame being connected with a big crossbar at the front just behind the bumper, making it the perfect battering ram :shruggy:

I agree, that Imperial site is awesome  :2thumbs:

I've got the same problem, if I get this car I'll have to get rid of something els...My Nephew has his eye on my Satellite for his first car, so there is the room.
