Is there anything you have to do to a K frame to change it from a 318 to a 426? I will be taking the K frame to powercoat and just want to make sure I don't have to weld anything before hand.

If you are talking about stock type Hemi engine mounts, then yes, the two K frames are quite different.  I believe there are some comparison pics on the site someplace.

I searched but could not find anything. Right now I have a stock K frame for my 69 charger it had a 318 in it which is long gone. And I will be putting a crate 426 Hemi. Will it work with the K frame I have right now or do I need to buy a new one?

Schumacher makes motor mounts for B and RB conversions, but I don't know if they can do the hemi?

Schumaker has good mounts to bolt the Hemi to the wedge K frame , no changes needed to the K other than to make sure the welds are good on the frame Before coating it

Thanks for the help I will check for cracks and all the welds and take it to powercoat not meaning to change to a paint?  But what kind of finish gloss or flat?

the schumaker kits are very nice but there is one problem with them, they sit the engine up a tad bit. something to the tune of a 1/2" which dosen't sound like much but if you are running a shaker hood or have tight clearance between the hood and air cleaner you need every possible space you can get.

i have read where a few guys oblong the mounting holes of the engine side bracket to get the engine to drop down to the stock position.

Thanks I would like to keep the K frame I have right now. But I will be getting new uppers and lower control arms

Don't the new Hemi castings come with original Hemi mounting provisions or the regular B/RB provisions?

I just checked and I found bare Hemi blocks with the standart motor mound ears, but could not find complete motors in anything but the regular Hemi mounting pads.  I only looked for a minute, though.  B-bodies use the same K-frame for small block and big block.  If you use the non Hemi mounting, exhaust may be a problem.
