Do or Don't? Might Have To Sell My Truck...

Well, I need some advice and you guys have yet to steer me wrong.

Heres the situation: I'm a senior at PSU going for mechanical engineering. I should be graduating in spring '09. A little over a year ago I totalled my daily driver, a mint condition '99 Chevy Lumina, and bought my '94 Ram 2500 Cummins. At that time I was commuting to a campus which was less than 15 minutes away and I was also working for a trailer company and using the truck for work occasionally. I have since transferred to a campus that is well over 50 miles, one way, away. Two weeks ago I was laid off from the trailer company and money has gotten tight. With diesel prices getting close to $3.25 around here I'm having to ask myself if I really NEED a truck. I love this truck to death but its not my "dream truck." Its my daily driver and my hot rod but I've got the Charger which has pretty much been sitting since my freshman year of college. The truck is paid off but if I sell it I can buy a car in cash and have some left over. My dad has an '05 F-250 that I can use anytime I need it. Most of my family and friends have told me I need to sell the truck and buy a good commuter car and that I can get another truck when I get out of school. I just can't get my head around the thought of driving a carbon copy import (read: Civic) like everyone else on campus.

What would you guys do in my situation?

I'll trade you a 1986 Honda Prelude SI for the 94 Ram!

Whatever you do, stay in school and get a good job so you can contribute heavily to the Social Security system. Besides that, find a new job and keep the truck.
