I just got a call from a friend who after 15 years is selling his 68 Charger. I went to look at it and it`s in great driver condition. It still retains its original sheetmetal except the trunkpan which was replaced years ago. It has the original 318 that had a 4 barrel added to it. It was converted to a 4 speed way back when. It has an 8 3/4 but I`m not sure if it is a suregrip. The interior needs a little work and the vinyl top trim needs to be replaced but it`s all there. The underneath of the car is 100% solid, and both front and rear valances are mint. The grill is perfect only needing a repaint and the headlights doors function. I want to buy it and he wants 10,500. Is it worth it? I`m thinking yes but as always value the opinions of the Charger gurus. Here are a few pics.

It looks so a good deal..if you don't get it ,let me know and I'll buy it ...
suggestions: be carefull about rust which is the worst and hardest thing to deal with....usual rusty areas are: around back window (mainly low corners),lower parts of the doors, trunk floors and extentions to the body; lower parts of the quarters, around wheels both ant/rear,  and in the back around the tank area; another important point to have solid is the floor all around....check up the engine and trans as well...important is also to have a solid chassis (it'd be better if there were no holes in it!!!)..... more or less this is the thing..don't know your resto/driving intentions..your budget, your ability as a mechanic or bodyshop worker...some more detailed pics would help by any chance....uhm uhm 4 speed..my dream!!! if only had I cash and a place to store it.....
Many other here will be more precise with the infos you may need as the already own a charger, not like me..
I really hope this may help...

No rust on fenders, doors, rocker panels, rear quarters, back window, floors, engine compartment, frame rails, trunk extensions, trunk lid, and hood. The center trunk pan replaced many years ago. It`s been inside for the last 15 years. It`s missing the trunk lock, antenna is removed and is in the truck, and I didn`t see a jack but he may have it.

that car for $10,500 is a steal.  its worth almost the full price just for being a rust free car as you describe.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a steal myself but I think it's a fair price, especially if you don't have to fool around with rust repair, body work and paint. You could probably finish off the interior and redo the top for under $2k. What kind of job did he do on the 4spd conversion?

I say it has an ebay price of $14,500.  (Keep in mind you do not usually see final prices unless you have car in your list).

The car is worth what some one is willing to pay.  I am sure there is some one out there that would pony up 15 or 20 K for a second gen in that shape.  If you can afford 10,500 and that is your dream car, go for it.  I would think in an affort to save ebay hassle and listing and showing the car locally, you might be able to get it for $8500-9500.  and that would be a real good deal in my opinion.  Good luck!

Rust free is the hook for me. My 69 Charger the rust was free and I got lots of free rust. About 150 pounds of it. ;D

The 4 speed conversion was done before he bought the car over 15 years ago. The floor pan had a hole cut in it and a rather large boot installed over the hole telling me who ever did it didn`t use a 4 speed hump, but that`s an easy fix. I`m going back Wednesday night to put a deposit on it. Bullit clone here we come.

Finally!   Getting sick of all your WIW posts.   ::)   j/k   :icon_smile_cool:

Glad to see you will have another project.   Might be time to make the Fury a Sunday cruiser and swap all the drivetrain into the Charger.

That`s my plan. Give the 383 that I took out of the Sport Fury a quick rebuild, find a 23 spline 4 speed and bell, take the 8 3/4 and put it all back into the 64. Then detune the 440 I pull out of the 64, the 18 spline and dana will go into the 68 Charger...
