Does anyone have any info on the company doing the radio conversions, putting modern internals in a factory stock appearing AM radio?  :shruggy:

There's many companies that do the conversions.

They're all based on a proprietary tuner board and they all charge somewhere around $400 or more for 4 outputs.
No, you can't just buy the board and do it yourself.   This place did mine: http://www.retroradio.biz/   It was $4xx after he had to fix some stuff and shipping back and forth, blah blah blah for a 2 channel output but that was several years ago now.
It looks stock,  and it sounds OK I suppose - getting a new antenna earlier this year helped my reception immensely.   If you're an audiophile don't bother.

I helped put a secret audio system into a 68 GTX in July.    I dunno - kind of a hassle.   It sounded pretty good.    Hid the controller in the ashtray.

It'd be a lot cheaper hacking up a repro radio bezel and putting in any old panaclarsonyjvcwhateverhteph8ck system from Best Buy.

I've moved and don't have the receipt handy, but I think it was around $375 a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the input and the links. But what I was hoping to find was a conversion I had seen in a Mopar magazine a couple of years ago.

It looked like a factory stock radio with an LED dial BEHIND the stock radio dial. When the radio is off it looks all original. When you turn it on the LED dial lights up behind the stock dial. Anyone have any info about these?

Perhaps it's time for you to dig into your pile of old magazines.  :shruggy:

Thanks for the link ChallengeHer but that is not quite it. I was momentarily surprised to read this on the Turnswitch site:

"We carry a complete line of solid state vibrators for the old tube
radios."

OMG you don't know what you're suggesting.  :icon_smile_big:

But unfortunately I think you're right, Brian. I'll post some info if I find something.
