Does any '68 owner have pics of an LED tail light conversion?

Ok, I'm not very handy with a camera, but here goes.
The first picture is the bulb itself.  Available at Advance Auto.

The 2nd picture is of my car in with the parking lights on.  The drivers side are both LED.  The passenger side is standard 1157's.

As you can see, there is not a significant difference in brightness that you can see in the pictures.  However, what the camera cannot show you is take this same setup and turn on your 4-way flashers.  If you watch the standard bulbs closely, you will see that they never really go completely out while flashing.  Just about the time the bulb is going out, it starts to brighten again for the next flash.  However, on the LED side, the flashes are very obvious and eye catching.  That is because LED's are instant on and instant off.  To me, its a safety thing.

Thanks for the pictures, guys. What it looks like to me is that they aren't necessarily brighter but that they seem to be more... defined, sharp, etc., if that makes any sense. I kind of like the pattern the LED light creates in the taillight too. But I would not say they are brighter. :shruggy:

I think they run cooler than a bulb. Not so much heat generated.

I didnt try that on all lites, also they will last longer too

Some comparison pictures...
1) A comparison between the 2 LED bulb types
2) The new LED vs. a standard bulb
3) The new LED bracket
4) The mess of ground wires required for the new LED bulbs.  (Got to find a way to tie strap this mess!)

So in your opinion are the large LED lights worth $250?

Why not just build some?

A few of the new rebels should be crazy bright in that application.

Oh and pretty cheap.

LEDs offer other advantages, such as needing less juice to work - a good thing if your wiring is 40+ years old and not packing the punch it used to.
A good buddy of mine owns a LED business and his prices are lower than what I've seen so far. He's not much of a Web designer but has been working the West Coast car show/swap meet circuit for many years - and Hot August Nights in Reno.

Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
