fuel gauge problems!!

ok im sure this has been posted before but im new to this site. and i need to ask how the hell is the fuel gauge in these things wired up properly? i aint no idiot but i cant figure the thing out, ive had 3 different gauges in the car, and its had 2 brand new sending units in it. the gauge moves but normally sticks around half a tank when its full.... im just wondering if there is anything special to these things? ive tried everything,,,, ive had this car for 6 years and driving it for about 4 and im sick of running out of fuel all the time haha. any help would be appreciated, thanks

If Its a new sending unit you will have to bend the float down, none of the repros work out of the box.
