I was out driving the Charger today...I just got it back out since the brakes went out three weeks ago and before that I was only able to drive it two times.  I was about 15 minutes from home...then the it starts raining...HARD!

I have no wipers(not yet installed)... and the sunroof is wide open (not currently functional)  :RantExplode:

That was the longest 15 minute drive ever...I need to pay more attention to the weather report.  Anyone ever have troubles like that?

I got caught out in the rain with my Convertible Challenger a couple of times prior to restoring it.  The worst part it doesn't have power top, so you have to pull over get out and put the top up :brickwall:

I'd very much like to know if your road worthy laws don't require wipers to be fitted and fully functional ? I've noticed wipers missing on other cars on the road when I was holidaying in the USA

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

That has happened to me a few times.  :RantExplode:  My rear window leaks bad, so my trunk gets really wet! My wipers do work though...

I got hit with a thunderous downpour the other day.. lighting, everything....  While I was on my bike, coming home from work.  No gas station, overpass, church... nothing..  for 25 miles, on my motorcycle.  It was nice earlier that day..  crazy NC weather.

Yes...most if not all states require wipers & all lights function as part of a safety inspection.

No wipers and a open roof?  wow.

I'd have found a car wash, overpass, big tree...  something.

If it was just the hole in the roof,   if you're doing 50 mph or so,  not much is actually gonna get in anyway...   I drive thru rain with T tops out of my Firebird all the time.

I haven't used it but heard rain-x was just that good to not bother with wipers.

i use rain x all the time. expecially on my daily. it has to be absolutly down pouring out for me to even have to put the wipers on with that stuff. its great!

its like wax for your winshield except there is no film. like when you accidently get regular car wax on the window. i put some on my girlfriends car and she was amazed.

Luckily Michigan has no safety inspection.  Wipers are required though.  I just need to put them on.

The trip home was all back roads so there was no where to stop.  You are right...the rain was not too bad through the roof...only got a little wet...but the no wipers really sucked  :RantExplode:

Ok. You can't get a roadworthy certificate here (in Victoria at any rate........not sure about the other states) unless everything on the car meets the requirements and without a raodworthy, you can't get your vehicle registered. So if you're registering for the first time everything has got to be in place and working . Of course after it's been registered you can get away with anything until you get caught.

In north Dakota it's illegal to drive without wipers. However, it is legal to drive without a windshield. Explain that one to me. Lol

Fred

I can't be sure of the reasoning behind that but they probably figure that even if it rains you can still see where you're going without a windshield (unless it's coming down so hard you have to close your eyes).
But having a windshield and no wipers well, I don't have to state the obvious.
