Hello all,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, minus a question about front-end interchangeability in the Body Forum.

I just sealed the deal on a 73 Charger, 340 Magnum with a slapstick.  It's still in perfect running shape, but with a little rust in all the places you'd expect, but overall, not bad at all.

I'm planning on cleaning up the body, get some more aggressive wheels and rubber (stock 14's still on it), and then just seeing what can be done for the motor and handling.  I've been in the Chevy camp most of my life, but the classic Mopars really have the style I wanted for a long-term keeper.

Anyway, just wanted to give a quick introduction.  I'll be throwing up lots of newbie questions in the specific forums if I can't find answers in the archives.  Great group you've got here!

Welcome to the site!  What color is the car?   If its an original 340 car then its a Rallye, the only way to get a 340 was with the Rallye package.  It should also have a bulge hood on it.  Im ready for some pics now.   :drool5: :popcrn:

It's a Rallye?  Sweeeeet....   :2thumbs:

Seriously, I got that impression from the hood and all, but like I said, I'm still learning this whole Mopar thing.

It is, as you guessed, the power bulge with the "340 Magnum" badging.  The guy who sold it said it's all original from the factory and he hasn't touched it much more then maintenance in the 4 years he's had it.

It's white with white vinyl top and bright blue interior.  Please for the love of God don't tell me this is some sacred color combination that I'm not allowed to modify.  That would put a damper on my plans.  After cleaning up the body I was planning on a black vinyl re-do for the top, and then, as a child of the 80's, I can't look at an old Charger, even if it's not a 69, and not imagine it better in a nice orange.  :D

What else can you tell me about the Rallye package and the 340?  I'd love to unleash some power there.

Never seen that combo before.

Does your car still have the fender tag?  It would be under the hood, on the drivers side inner fender held on with 2 screws.

BWAHAHAHA!!!!  My wife said it'll look like rolling vomit that way.  The interior is black in the perfect little vision in my head.  I did lots of interior swithing in my old Firebird, so I've got practive at that.

The fender tag is still there.  I'm taking possession this weekend or early next week, so I'll snap some better pics of the ride, and the tag at that time.
