Leaning car..just crank up torsion bars?

Well my car (wife think's it's hers) arrived up here in Alaska :) while I was driving it I noticed it sags to the drivers side a bit. Now back in early 2006 I did a COMPLETE front end job (U/L B-joints tie rods all bushings ect.) so I know things are good and perhaps the torsion bar (T-bar) is weak and I thought "well I'll just crank up the drivers T-bar and have it realigned"

My question is if the T-bar is weak can you just raise one side to compensate or will the T-bar have to be brought back down for an alignment?

Thanks!

Ghoste

Personally, I'd get it realigned but I know some people raise and lower the t bars all over the place without a care.  When you adjust the bar, everything else moves too, so to me it is just good sense to get it aligned again.

I think if alignment was done with some specific height and you just get back tightning the T bars to same height ( or replacing T bars ), alignment shouldn't be lost.

Of course that works JUST if you get exactly same ride height than you got last time of aligment

Nothing has been touched since the alignment. I'll crank it up this weekend and see how it does

Of course, you are comfortable that the ride height was correct after the 06 alignment?  The other thing to keep in mind if you do decide to take it bak to a front end shop is that it is getting harder to find a good front end guy who understands torsion bars and ride height.  Too many of them take shortcuts nowadays and screw it up.  The torsion bar isn't just a spring, it's an important part of the front end componentry in a Mopar.  Sorry if I sound preachy, it just seems that I run into crappy front end techs a lot anymore.  (and my apologies to all the good ones)

Well I had the front end done right before I went to Korea for 13 months and it went into storage, it just arrived up here yesterday :) So taking it back to the original shop is out of the question...I can find someone here I'm sure

I always liked the looks of that car.   :2thumbs:

Chryco Psycho

crank up the left T bar & check you toe in with a tape measure across the front & rear of the tires , toe should be 1/16-1/8 "

kamkuda

After you crank up the torsion bars, bounce the front up and down a bit to get it to settle at the right ride height

The ride  height is good now, no adverse steering effects, I'll have to check the toe in

Thanks!
