Best way to clean an engine bay?

The engine bay of the Charger is filthy.  What would be the best way to get all the grease and sludge and everything out?  Just a degreaser and a wire brush?  Any special tricks?

tire cleaner or superclean and a stiff plastic bristle brush , and a presure washer or steam cleaner then sand blast etc etc ...

I've heard decent success stories of guys using Easy Off oven cleaner, too.

Id just try the degreaser, a scrub brush and a power washer first and take it from there.  Usually you can get most of the stuff that way.

That reminds me of a funny story. I was looking at a 73 Charger about 7 years ago. The guy tried to clean it up and used easy off oven cleaner to clean the engine and engine bay. Would have been nice if he rinsed it off when he went to start the engine he pumped the gas several times. The throttle stuck at WOT because of the easy off (and he didn't realize it), the car started with a roar and by the time he turned the key off there was a thick cloud of blue smoke pouring out of the exhaust , and no I didn't buy the car.


Check with a couple of auto parts stores. I'm sure they have some cleaners that would do the job.
