I am building a 318 street engine. I am not all that familiar with what is available as far as rebuild kits go. However I found some on summit racing websight.
1st question is. What are the benefits of an forged aluminum versus cast. Is it worth the 200 extra dollars.
2nd question. What will I be missing in the kit or does it include everything inside the block?
3rd question. Is federal Mogul a good kit, and are there better and worse options.

1.  Forged pistons are stronger than cast pistons.  For a 318 street engine forged pistons aren't needed.

2.  You would also need a camshaft, lifters and timing chain.  A new oil pump drive shaft would be a good idea too.

3.  I would have no problem using a Federal Mogul kit.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.
