I just bought the US cartool Subframe connectors.  I already bought a new carpet (old one has to come out anyway so I don't burn the car up, and I figured I shoudl not put the original 68 carpet back in.)

My buddy has a mig and swears we can do it, but I am a bit nervous.  I am going to put some sound/heat proof on floor and was thinking of Edead.  anyone use this stuff and if so, how much should I buy for the floor and back seat divider area?

I am hoping for a huge improvement in ride and noise by doing this all at the same time.

ive had mine in my cellar for 2 or 3 years now. still havent put em in, and im a welder lol. anyway im not sure how to support the car or if you even need to at all. when you weld them in. ive heard of people installing them and then the doors not closing right or at all afterwards  :eek2:........Mike

You've got a few (several, actually) hours of grinding and fitting ahead of you before you can fire up the MIG. Even though these are laser cut to fit the floorpan, after almost 40 years each car is different.  I installed mine a couple of months ago, will do it again on future projects, but it wasn't a clamp it and weld it deal ---- lots of grind it and try it, over and over again...

I figure I will fit them at my house and take them to my friend when it's ready.  what would suggest I use to grind? I have one of those air powered dye grinder (long skinny like a head porting tool) or I have a plug in electric angle grinder.

I just used a small air grinder with 3 inch discs. You're grinding on the edge of the metal, so it doesn't take much to remove the material. I'ts just a lot of trial fitting and grinding over and over again...

Yeah, I've got some in transit at the moment. How did you set up the car when you installed them, was the car on a rotisory or she she a runner ?

*I had that same question:

My friend claims that we need to get the car on a level surface, then jack it up and support under the rear axle and the control arms.  He did not seem too concerned with how level the surface was, just somewhat level.  I want to get the car supported like he says, but use a level on the core support, Rockers, and something on the back of the car.

I recently spoke with a guy that has done many of these in his shop. He says he would rather weld them in AFTER all the weight is in the car and all the panels are matched up. Said doing it on a rotisserie is 95% easier, but unless you braced up the entire car before removing the weight it is going to flex. He said he does them on a drive on lift with the car complete other than seats and carpet.  It all sounded right to me..

I would love to get a set of those display ramps like at the car deal and just drive right up on them.  Maybe before I weld these up, I shoudl get my buddy to build a set of those :icon_smile_big:
