1972 Charger SE

Hi everyone, I recently bought a 1971 Charger SE, its good condition but I really dont know for sure which engine its got. The seller told me it was a 360 but some friends of mine have told me its a 318, can someone tell me which engine is it? I measured the cilinder today and I just got a little bit under 4.00 bore, about 3.98 or 3.99 and know the 360 is 4.00 bore. thanks

Hi!! and welcome

Clean and check on this area... you will find the stamped pad where states CI

Also, 360 heads use little bit bigger valves than 318.

If engine is the original numbers matching, it could be 318 or 340, since 360 came out on 74 replacing 340

It looks like it probably is a mid to late 80's 318 or late 80's 360 with a roller cam of which both are a pretty good motors, the stock bore on the 318 is 3.910 and as you said the 360 is 4.00, also the 360 has an externally balanced vibration dampner and the 318 is internally balanced, usually the date and size of engine is cast on the side of the block and the size is stamped on the front of the block just below the deck surface but I can't remember which side it is on.

Thanks and its a 72 charger se, I wrote it wrong my mistake and yesterday I checked that part of the engine looking for the cast but I didn't see it, let me check it later today.
On the fender tag, I have the following:

45 21  U80 SW       TW
B1 B5         R1  BC
609 H17181 T  HW229

I've looked for fender tags on the internet but none look like this and I've got no vin tag on the instrument panel through the windshield

On the driver's door tag there are these 2 codes:

T2-H17181
T2-17181

thanks for helping me out

that's a mexican tag... no way to get the equipment options or anything from those with actuall info available... dunno if throught mexican Mopar dealers

1972 Charger SE

Was mistaken, the last 3 digits from the tag under the 2 pistons from the driver side are 360 and the front of the block has 360 also, so 360 it is, thanks to everyone
