My alternator doesn't seem to be charging the battery. This is a brand new alternator (the old one was dead), but it still doesn't seem to charger the battery. Does anyone have a good wiring diagram or could describe to me which wire from the alternator goes to the battery? I think one of the wires should go to the cars ammeter. Is that the cars amp gauge? I've got a gauge that shows C and D on opposite ends. Should this wire lead there?

With the ignition off you should have B+ at the large wire connection at the alternator.  If you do, the alternator has a connection to the battery.

Both kind have same big stud with black heavy gauge wire with eyeball terminal, and from the distance are the same. Both fits the same on brackets

single field has one prong on back, feeded directly from regulator, with positive on green wire. Uses a mechanical regulator.

double field has two prongs, feeded by positive on blue wire from ignition key ( same wire that also feeds regulator ) and negative with green wire coming from regulator only. Uses an elrectronic regulator
