Sorry for the thread, I know how much you guys despise these questions for the most part.  A guy by my house has a '71 R/T hood that he says is perfect or pretty close to it.  I have not yet seen the hood because I do not have the cash yet, but it is a great price.  He wants $500 for the hood.  I know this is a spectacular price for it, but for resale, what could it be worth?  He has the R/T insert.  Thanks for any help.

Bandit72

i'll give you 600 for it  ;)
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

I'd guess $2500 give or take a little.  You better grab that up for $500, it wont last 10 minutes if he advertises it.

I want one But would never pay more than 500 for one ever! regardless of condition!

Good luck every finding one for 500, a basic bulge hood sells for more than 500 in good condition.

Seems like there is no limit for the prices on 3rd Gen performance hoods. Standard bulge hoods seem to sell for around $1000, R/T hoods $1500- $2000, and (complete) RamCharger hoods 3k and up. Those suggesting $500 power bulges obviously don`t pay much attention to Ebay.  I would buy every single good one I could find at that price.  :yesnod:  As far as the person who said they would not pay more than $500......chances are that you won`t be getting one anytime soon.   ;)   If I had the chance to buy an R/T hood for $500, and did not have the $$, I would be in a mad scramble to borrow the money.........not posting WIW threads.  Anyway, with all that said... I`m sure glad that I had foresight and bought at least one of all the mentioned hoods several years ago and don`t have to pay current prices.

Average price on Ebay for a standard bulge hood is about 600- 800 ,R/T hoods about 1200-1500, Ramchargers 2000 - 3500.All depending on condition and without shipping costs.Take notice I said average prices. Some people want to inflate the insane value of these hoods for whatever purpose but I myself would rather buy a fiberglass one than pay those prices. And I know of a standard bugle hood local to me that 's priced at $500 and he won't advertise it and won't ship it.So there are alot still out there. They aren't that rare.Besides the cars that were built with them Mopar also made some for the replacement market.

hey twilt, i bought my bulge hood for 200 bucks about 2 months ago.  :icon_smile_big: I'll have less than 350-400 into it by the time its painted and sitting on the car.

mikesbbody

if i were you id buy that hood in a heartbeat! i wouldnt sell it iether! i paid 350.00 for a 71 super bee hood last year still had the original decal/paint on it but needs alittle work and no insert that's a cheap price so to get that hood complete for 500 is a absolute bargin dont wait!

One question....When is the last time you have owned, bought, or sold a 3rd Gen performance hood?

oh I know it. I'm lucky, I actually talked the guy down from 600 to 200 for this hood, but if I wasnt my own bodyman and good at what I do, I'd have 600 into the bodywork on the hood alone.

But deals are out there, you have to be willing to wait for it though.

If you feel the urge to flip it, I have a 71 RT that's in need of the louvers, possibly the hood too. Thanks   dalkris@hotmail.com

I'd say 1200-1500. We scored a mint 71 bee hood with the insert going across the scales at the scrap yard about 3 years ago for $25 bucks. It was on a rusty 73 charger 318 car. The guy said he cleaned out his entire grove, and that was the last one, who knows what else he scrapped :icon_smile_dissapprove:
