Depending on the single and dual planes compared there could be.  Also, you didn't mention the trans and that is a factor as well as the rear end ratio.

the main advantage of a dual plane intake is better low end but a sacrifice of a few top end HP. for a street car i usually go with a dual plane simply because how often (on the street) do you spend at 5500rpm+ ?  not much for me.

Then again you will have some others chime in with their opinion   :2thumbs:

The performer RPm dual plane would be a good choice.  :yesnod: Do youself a favor and lose that 509 cam....it'll be a tuning nightmare.  :Twocents:

Well Ron,  probably will change the cam over the winter, but right now, the car is in tune and running like a beast.  really it is.  Just trying to squeeze every HP  out of it.

The lowdeck (383-400) RPm manifold is an excellent piece....it would still be my choice for a 383 that is overcammed. Now on a bigger 451-470 lowdeck stroker that might change depending on the rest of the build.  :Twocents:

The RPM is a good choice but the 509 won't fall out of a tree below around 3600 with a 10:1 383, It'll run strong above 4000 but unless you have deep gears and a 3500 stall or a stick there's better cam choices. The problem is you've got a lot of duration past BDC combined with a really short 3.375" stroke. moving it up to 104 or even 102 would help but a much better 383 cam would be the Crower 271HDP which is 226/234 @.050 and ~490 lift. The biggest cam I would put in there would be the Ultradyne 231/239 @.050 or the Hughes Engle 230/238...trust me either one oof these will give you a broader powerband and higher average torque and throttle response than the 509. 509's work great in 10:1 440's with single planes and 3200-3500 stall in 3200 pound A bodies though.

I agree that the Performer RPM for the 383 is a good intake and it works just fine on my 470 too.  Never dyno'd but seat of the pants says it pulls strong up to 6000 or so.

470 with a 259@.050 585 lift solid.

The strip dyno is best and most accurate one anyway Doug.  :icon_smile_wink:
