Corellian Corvette

Hey everyone! Lots of people post progress pictures so I thought I'd do the same!

I'm not sure if anyone recalls my story, but I purchased this 68 Charger last summer from a crook on the internet. Despite sending me 30+ pictures and answering dozens of my questions, the car was a total POS. The guy was a master at making it look good in photographs and did just enough to sell it to some sucker. That sucker being me.  :brickwall:

I basically had to start over and because there was so much bondo (several hundred pounds worth!) – we found tin cans, latex gloves, chicken wire and duct tape all substituting for metal. We replaced the front fenders, rear quarters, sail panels, trunk filler panel, trunk floor, trunk extensions, a new package tray, near front and rear valences, new driprail (on the passenger side), even a replacement taillight panel off a donor car. We basically just kept the hood, roof, floorpan and doors.

Anyway, long story short it's been with my body guy from last August until the beginning of this month, and I finally got it home to start the rest of the work. Tore down most of the engine compartment, replaced the wiring, and I'm getting the front suspension ready for Tubular Control arms, aluminum strut rods, Firm Feel Stage 2 steering box and fast ratio pitman arm/idler arm. I'm also using the firm-feel front and rear sway bars and HD torsion bars. I bought just about everything Firm Feel sells!   :D

I'm also converting to 4-wheel disc brakes from MP Brakes, and I just took the rear-end in to have it checked and have a locker installed. New exhaust coming from Accurate LTD and I need to install the subframe connectors and the bottom-end should be done!

I also re-finished the rallye guage with guage decals, and you can see how the new lenses and bezel look from PGClassic. Also installed their recently-released indicator lenses. I'm nearly done with the console as well, using all the top-plates from PG Classic (the auto plate is the original I cleaned-up but it will be replaced with their new repro).

In the last year, I also had a new garage built next to my house, so I added some pictures of the Charger's stable-mates.

Thanks everyone for all the help and answering my stupid questions. This car was so botched-up I have no real reference points for a lot of things! More dumb questions coming.

Well done!

Looks like you've been a pretty busy fellow! Sucks about the scammer you had to deal with, internet is full of them. Your charger is comming along real good. Best of luck to you.

Back N Black

Looks sharp,keep us updated.

terrible one

I remember you purchasing the car, etc. but don't think I caught the story about the car being a total piece. I remember you saying something about the rear window trim not fitting right though.

Anyways, the car is looking great and definitely looks like it's going to be a real killer! Great job taking a loss and still going through with having the car you want. Look forward to seeing more progress!

Looks great!! Pity about the state it was in when you bought it, will be worth the effort when its done.

"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."
