Id consider an auto charger if i could swap a TKO Tremec 5 speed in it's place. How hard/difficult/time consuming is it to convert an auto car into a manual?

Call Keisler Engineering in Knoxville, TN and talk to them.  They have the complete setup and I think they have a video you can get too.  They have pretty much taken all the work out of rounding up the parts.  If your automatic is on the column you would need to deal with that.  You can replace the piece that has the shift lever with one off a car that had either a 4-speed or floor shift automatic.  You may have to replace the ring and pinion also.

(Actually they are in Rockford, TN.)
Beware of Keisler - My "swap" took 2 months.   :rotz:  Check the link in my sig.  :rotz:

that sucks - my general TKO swap took me one week....     that included fabbing and cutting...      but it only took me one week...    Keisler is severely over-rated....    :hah:

That leads me to believe that Keisler's quality has recently taken a serious dive.    :rotz:

After reading BrianShaughnessy's posts on Moparts about the hydraulic clutch setup, I'm wondering if I'm headed for even more problems.   :'(

how much do those kits run (ballbark)? do they make one for 3rd gens?

Ghoste

About 3 grand for the basic kit and yes, they make them for 3rd gens.

LargerCharger383

is there anyone making kits designed to go with a stock 4-speed that DON'T include tranny, just the pedal, linkage, etc? mine's auto on the floor and I'd kill for a 4-speed pistol grip, but I'm on a high school budget...

Chryco Psycho

I do not know of a kit But virtually every part is available to do the swap either From Brewers ,Mopar or Ebay

I too am doing a automatic to standard swap. try www.moparplus.com. they seem to have the best prices going on pedal kits and linkage and so forth. i'm planning to buy most of my stuff from them. so far all i have is a trans, bellhousing and flywheel. as soon as my income tax check comes in i'll get the rest. it will be much cheeper this way than going the KIT way. and if you are on limited funds as I am, you can find the pieces when you have the money. but be careful and make sure you get the right stuff, dont want to buy something you cant use. good luck.  TK
