ok now i remember way back on the old site there was a article in the tech archives thats said a old dakota starter was a drop in replacement and was actually a cheap mini starter. anyone know what years work and if in fact it is a drop in? my starters screamin it still works but i dont know for how long so its time to hit the yard or get it rebuilt. thanks, Mike

better how ??
they are smaller & lighter , easier to change & work well

Bob

As far as torque and durability. Lighter and easier to install is the biggest plus I guess. Thanks Chryco.

they have lots of torque & seem to last

I was looking into these starters at the parts store about a month ago. I was told by them it was a gear reduction starter. They didn't seam to think it would work so I went with the original one. I guess it doesn't matter then.

The OEM ones were also Gear Reduction starters.
