I have two deck lids and both of them act like they are seperated on the top side.
Someone told me I could fill them with foam so I tried one.
The foam worked good but now I am getting cracks in the primer.
I know I preped it right, would the foam cause this.
Is there a better way to fix it and if I left it like it was without the foam would the deck lid raddle like crazy.
Thanks for your help.

Had the same problem with my 72. I also used the foam to stop the rattling. There's two types of foam, non-expanding and expanding. It started rattling again last year, this time I went to HD and got some 1/2" round foam that comes in a coil.

I used GREAT STUFF
Got it at home depot, is there any chance this is why my primer wont stick.

bordin34

it shouldn't, unless you got the super mega ultra expanding stuff.

Can't you just use seam sealer?

The metal is seperated, Dose this bond it back togather like jb weld?

You can get seam sealer from auto paint and body supply stores, they used it on the seams from the factory.

Thanks Allen
The lid I'm dealing with has a bubble on the top skin just above the trunk lock.
If I press it down it pops right back into shape, let it go and it pops back up.
I dont really see a place to bond it back togather.
Do you think this lid is trash?
