Ladies and Gentlemen,

I proudly raised my right hand, before my fellow squadron members, my lovely wife and daughter, and gave my final oath of enlistement to the Air Force.  And to make the occasion all the more special, I had my youngest brother, who is a Captain in the Air Force and stationed at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota, come down all the way here to the Florida panhandle and give me my final oath.

My brother proudly barked "I drove for three days to get here and perform this ceremony in less than 60 seconds, and I'd do it all again!"

It was a historical moment in two ways; first- it's not that often that siblings get to participate in both the giving and receiving of the oath of enlistment, and second- this is my last and final oath and I wanted no one else to give it to me than my youngest brother, so it makes for a memorable moment in my family's history!

Serving America with pride for over 19 years and counting folks!  I'm good 'till May of 2011, and then I am DEE-OHH-NNN-EEE DONE!

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Are you sure its the last time? You might change your mind in 2011 and want to go for 30 years instead.  Just a thought.
