Pulleys...switching from AC to non AC

I know I had asked a similar question before, but I couldn't find the post when I searched for it.  Any way heres the deal my 383 had ac and since I rebuilt the motor and the a/c didn't work I decided to take it off for now.  The problem is, in order to get a belt to the alternator, the alternator needs to be moved forward.  No big deal buy a non a/c alternator bracket right? but then in order for the belt to go from the alternator to the water pump and down to the crank I have to buy a new water pump pulley which in turn would need a new crank pulley.  Not to be a complete penny pincher, but after the rebuild headers carb mufflers....etc, I dont want to spend the extra $170 (to bouchillon performance) for these three parts.  So simply get a new belt was my next thought...and although I haven't measured to see if this will work, it looks as though a different belt would hit either A the water pump idler pulley or B the bottom of the water pump housing.  If anyone has switched from ac to no ac let me know if there is a quick fix.  For the money I might as well get whole pulley set from march performance.  Any ideas?

Well I don't know if it work on a 383 but I have a 318 motor and did the same thing. I ran a belt from the crank pulley to the alt. pulley. The water pump was in the way but it was only the rib part, so I took a hake saw and cut it off. Then I filed it smooth. I have a electric fan so I though it would not hurt anything. 30,000 miles later water pump is still fine. Take a Good look and see what it hitting. My belt is very very close but does not ever touch the pump.

Here it is, I bumped it back to the top for you. If you're looking for a thread in which you know you posted, just click on your own user name then scan through your own posts. I found your previous thread by clicking on your user name and quickly skimming through your posts. Just a search on "pulley" opened up way more crap than I wanted to scan.

I don't believe there is a quick fix unfortunately.  I did the same thing taking ac off of an ac big block car and could not even find the things i needed in my local bone yards.  I bought what i needed from bouchillon performance.  In the end you would be better off doing it the right way rather than having crooked unevenly matched pulleys spitting belts all the time.  Just a thought.
