Probably the same as Kevorkian except he kills the dreams of Mopar fans instead of terminal patients. :icon_smile_wink:

Just kidding. Well, according to your link he sounds like an old guy with a bunch of money who wants to buy Chrysler again (and Dodge and Jeep, Bronzy) and keep it in the good 'ol USA. Funny how his current offer is 1/5 of what it was 12 years ago. All I can say is it must be nice to be able to make a $4.5 billion cash offer on something.

So where exacxtly did the 5 Billion bucks the Germans looted from Chysler Go?...

any takers?..

Until November 2006, Kirkorian had a substantial stock interested in GM and a seat on its Board.  When merger talks were unsuccessful late last year, he sold off most of his GM holdings.

I'd like to see Kirkorian buy Chrysler and install Bob Lutz as CEO.

Lutz is GOD.

Everyone on the board should toss in a Million or two, and we could buy Chrysler. Then we could built the Charger the way we think it should be built ;)

For some reason I have a hard time believing that Chrysler is a drain on Daimler. I look everywhere and all I see is chargers, 300s, magnums, trucks etc. Meanwhile all of the sedans (RWD) are sporting german transmissions (nag1), driveshafts, rear ends, bosch abs systems, german electronics. The sedans start at a reasonable ~20grand+ for a full size sedan and are decently equipped for the price.
Mercedes quality control has been rated one of the worst in the industry. So I don't see how they can be doing that well. They dump all their german parts onto the american brand. My guess is that somebody is rearranging the figures, keeping mercedes in the green after some creative bookkeeping.

To be honest with you its pretty upsetting. I think chrysler/dodge/jeep have a decent product but it'll be a shame to see them go under if they do. If kerkorian takes over who knows if he'll keep the company or take it to the chop shop... Sell Jeep to GM, and part out the rest.... Will be interesting to see what happens.

This guy must be old by now and I have never lost any money betting with him.  The first I heard about him was when he bought the International Hotel in Vegas (I ended going there to see Ellvis and play basketball with Ike and Tine Turner's kids -- long story -- wow I am getting old).  Anyway, this guy is the successful investor, usually buying soon to be winners.  Check out the hemi at www.marlia.com.  Kim

What you need an answer to that question? Mercedes emptied the Chrysler bank account. They'll sell it minus the 5b because that was used to fund Mercedes.

Was this a surprise to anyone. Buy a big company that has lots o cash squeeze the tomato remove the juice and throw the carcass away.

Well maybe Kirk can turn the big ship lolipop around and infuse new ideas into Ma Mopar.

I think they need to focus on what makes them the most $$ mini-vans, jeep and a muscle car or 2 with 2 doors viper, challenger.  And then work on a small line of cars to compete with the Civics and Corrolas make them reliable and good gas mileage and well built and turn the truck line over to jeep and let jeep focus on the Jeeps and big trucks. DUMP the rest caliber, PT cruiser, avenger, durango, nitro.

And make a damn car that lasts 1 mile past the expiration of the warranty.

And put a smaller diesel in the 1/2 ton truck so we can get better than 20 mpg and still have a truck to use.  Oh wait, i guess they are thinking about doing that already: http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/2009-ram.html

I think this could be a good thing.

I own and Love my Daimlar-Benz. but just like everythign else in the world all good things must end. and end it did, just like how Chrysler products took a huge down turn in the late 70s early 80s. Mercedes went to $hit in the mid 90s. but as mentioned before you do see alot of magnums, 300s and what not driving around. and you know why? the old crap that mercedes had stored in its basement went over to the chrysler side... and it was the good stuff! mercedes is a pile of junk these days, but the new chrysler stuff shares alot of the same harware as my mercedes... and my car drives like new after 23 years. so i see the infusion of these quality german parts into the chrysler breed a good thing... now the trick is to get this Kirk Kerkorian guy to buy chrysler and "take the money and run"... get out with all the good mercedes parts, before mercedes starts to feed chrysler the crap that they are currently selling.

That's way harsh dude.  Let's not equate DCX staff with the Nazis.  Totally not the same thing.
