Yeah - the Germans know nothing about automotive design, manufactuirng and marketing.  Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen are all in a world of hurt eh!

Lets face it the new Mustang is hot  but its not really doing much for Ford.
Todd

   Ya and the new Challenger is hot too, but it's not doing much for Dodge either. That's because that bonehead (Trevor Creed) should have built the car years ago. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, their too busy building the fat chipmunk (Dodge Nitro).

  I read it, are you trying to convince me that 90% of the cars look the same, tell me something I don't know. What I'm getting at is that "Style" does matter...Take another look at the fat chipmunk (Nitro). It goes into that ugly car catagory that I was referrng to.

We are not talking about style here. We're talking about a car company being bought and sold or merged. Part of my message was to show that cars in general now are merely transportation. Point A to Point B.  Being cool isnt a big factor to most people out there.  The Mustang is a perfect example which is why I talked of it in my message.   If Chrysler was only interested in cool they would just make Vipers and new Challenegers and be gone before we know it.

  So all of the new cars have the same boring look to them for A to B transportation, ok. Maybe that's why the boring Chrysler (Nitro, and don't say it's a good looking car/thing/ whatever it is) company needs to be bought out or rescued again. I sure hope style still matters to some car buyers, otherwise the Challenger will be a wagon.

I think that's always been the case to some degree Todd.  As much as we hate to admit, every family wasn't rushing out to buy a supercar in 1969.  Ordinary Darts and Coronets outsold our beloved Charger by quite a bit.  The performance fans have always been a real small slice of the pie.
And Big L, if you think Chrysler styling is boring, drive through the Honda or Toyota lots.  No imagination there I'll tell ya.

Good point. So instead of making a 'supercar' and a family sedan they tried blowing smoke up our collective A$$E$ by putting the Charger name on a Coronet.

They kinda did that in 71!

I wasn't necessarily going there but you're right.  It costs a lot more to bring a car to market now than it did in 69 too so I suppose we have to cut them some slack in the diversity category?

And if Chrysler becomes a Canadian owned company, we promise to try and understand the US market a lot better than the Germans.  :D

Would the owners manuals be written in both English and French?

They already are.... ::)

Or so the commonly held myth goes anyway.  Not much interchange between the two.
